GeForce 8600GT or 9400GT?

512MB GeForce 8600GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814145161) are about the same cost as 9400GT's (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125239). What's better?

Looks like the 8600GT spanks the 9400 in every area but overclocking.

See 120 Shader Cells vs 32 Cells with those other two. 725Mhz/1600Mhz 384bit processing opposed to the others 256bit.

I bet its considerbly faster. I didn't do the benchmark thing. just looked at paper specs.

but 120 Shaders im sure would trample over the other cards 32 and 16 shader units.

Might as well go with a 4670 then as it is comparable with the 3850 (sometimes faster), uses less power, and supposedly has better drivers. The 4670 is also better when using AA than the 3850 in some situations. You can easily get the 4670 for under $80.

Also, the 3850 is much much better than the 9500GT, 8600GT, and the 9400GT. ( see http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?cid=3&id=2631&pg=3 )

Keep looking around on newegg; you can often find a 9500 for the same price as a 9400.

My uncle got a 9500 GT for $45 with a rebate. I can't remember if it was in one of the newegg newsletter deals.

how's that possible when you listed 2 cards that cost 60....


when i had my 8600GT's i got them up there as far as overclocks. with my quad core, which did most of the work, i managed 13k in 3dmark06.

8600GT @ 890/980MHz was on average the best overclock i got them to with a volt mod and after market cooling.

Of these two, go with the tigerdirect one (its a 8600GT, should be better than the 8500GT), NewEgg open boxes tend to not work (I've read too many bad things about them recently, new stuff is fine, but open box is not).
