im not a fan boy or anything, but i think intel would be the best of the best, if your willing to pay top dollar for the 3.7ee but for budget amd would be better.

amd all the way. they have always been better for gaming, and now the 64bit starts to own intel in the rest as well. not to mention the price difference.

Amd are better for gaming, in all price ranges. intel is better for multitasking

a P4 is better when working with large image files, graphics, CAD, e.t.c. Unless your a graphic artist who works on files in gigabyte sizes I would stick to AMD, better price\performance ratio and for games the 64's have a slight performance advantage and huge cost savings.

AMD is much better for gaming. also you get 64 bit when windows 64 bit comes out. look at benchmarks, AMD dominate every game.

im getting a new computer for only $400, its a dell but it comes with a 3.0 6 series processor, is it worth it???

yes, when when you look at cheap comps like for $500, dell cant be beaten because you get a decent PC and a monitor. but when you go for higher end, building your own is the way to go.

AMD pwns the Pentium 4 in gaming performance across the board. The only P4 that I have seen that has had relative sucess in outperforming the AMD64 is the Pentium 4 EE 3.7 overclocked to 4.12 Ghz, which can be found in the Falcon Northwest Mach Five ($7000). :eek;.

AMD all the way is best for me. In every price point.

I would say that intel is deffinately farther ahead with the core 2, and now, with the core i7

Intel for high-end systems (now that the i7's out, barring any unforeseen problems), for average machines, it doesn't really matter which way you go, certainly not as much as it did in 2005.

If you want cheap, use AMD, if you want quality (such as good overclocking), use Intel.

I'm happy with my X3. It pushes everything I need it to, and has exceeded my expectations in real-world application. Intel has been pushing the limits as well with their new i7's (if you are willing to spend extravagant amounts of money for a new processor).
