I need to know a little about what goes where. I am building my new computer and it is sweet(well, will be). It is almost all put together except for some wires. Why do the fans have 3 connectors? Two are transparent-ish white with four huge pin-like things inside them. The other connector thing is a white-beige piece with 4 holes. Do I hook them all up or what? Are they all used and if so, where do they go? I mean, to which thing on the power supply.
On my cd drive, there is a cable that came with it that goes into the slot labled 'sata power'. At the end of it, is one of those transparent-ish white pieces with 4 gigantic pins. But in the middle, a sata connecter is put there. What is that for? I checked my power supply's sata connectors and they are the same exact as the one on the cable, so they wouldn't interlock or anything. Do I leave it there or what?

Ohh, and what does FDD mean? I saw on my motherboard manual something about FDD blah blah. What is FDD?

FDD is Floppy Disk Drive

FDD is for the floppy drive.

the "transparent-ish white with 4 gigantic pins" are molex connectors (http://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/productimage/12-189-119-03.jpg). you only need to connect 1 per fan, the reason they have 2 is so they can be joined into each other.

the other connector is a 4 pin connector, it should look like this (http://www.elma.it/IMAGES/fantt/4in4a.jpg)

as for the sata drive i'm not fully sure of what your talking about but i think you have one of these (http://www.qvs.com/images/sata-power.JPG)? you can just plug a molex from the psu into it or if you psu is new enough it should have sata power plugs.

I use the small fan headers on the motherboard until I run out of them, then I use the molex plugs. Only use one or the other on each fan.

:stupid: some MB's use the smaller 4 or 3-pins to get RPM data as well

A 3 pin fan will work in a 4 pin motherboard fan header.

arent 4 pin headers usually only for cpu fans though?
correct me if i'm wrong, thats just what ive understood. I've never noticed more than the cpu fan header having 4 pins for a pwm fan

Usually it is, but I do have a case fan that has a 4 pin plug, and my motherboard actually has two 4-pin headers on it.
