Ughhhh, wish I could grab up some of these =(. I've got an Office Depot right down the street too.
But, just got a sick deal on a eVGA GTX280, and grabbed a Corsair TX750W to compliment, so I've officially spent all my xmas and selling laptop funds, aside from a Tigerdirect gift certificate.
Nice deal though, +rep.

Buy the external, pull it out of its casing, then you have an internal drive, plus an enclosure.

Yes, but I want the external, they didn't seem to have the slightest clue what I was inquiring about.

say USB drive? What about giving them the model number, or just go to the store, find it on the shelf, and buy it

NOOOO, that is not a deal. They had a 500gig external there for 35 bucks yesterday... then mybook 500gigs for like 40 bucks. I went right next door to bestbuy and they had one of the exact drives for 93 dollars.
The thing that pisses me off most is if I would have made it to Office Depot in time and scored a passport, I could have taken the receipt to Best Buy and they would have price matched it. :'o(
(at least that's what one of the geeksquad guys said... we all know how stupid many of them are.)
EDIT: Almost forgot, the dude that helped me said they were selling 250 3.5's for 17 dollars...:banghead:

Probably none by then haha. Good luck though!
I put one of my drives up on ebay and it's already at 70 bucks. I shouldn't be spending money really so I figured if I sold one I basically got the other for free... plus it matches my laptop! :)

I called them and they had no idea what I was talking about. They said they were closing around 100 stores. SO the deals might be localized.

01-17-2009, 08:28 PM
Hopefully you didn't just get ahold of a moron or some prick that wanted to keep the deals for himself.
If that's so then I'm going to have to make frequent pit stops to my local Office Depot in case they decide not to advertise their liquidation/closing.
TheGreatSatan
01-17-2009, 08:57 PM
Every store has these drives whether they're closing or not. Both stores in my area have them and they aren't closing. Note: These drives WILL NOT be on the sales floor. You have to ask for them. BTW, new item #138650 - WD Passport (Red) 250GB - $32.93

Print the list out and ask them to look each item number up. It will only take them a few seconds
---------------------------EDIT
I totally got robbed. When I had bought the two 1TB Simpletech drives, one box was already opened because it had been returned. Opening the box shows you a Simpletech drive, since they all look the same. Well today I have been cracking them open to use as internal drives when I realized that one of the TB drives was actually a 320GB drive. So someone bought a 320 and a TB, reboxed the 320 as a TB, returned it and received the cost of a TB!
For the huge savings I made I'm still cool with it.
Tally:
2x 500GB
2x 1TB
1x 320GB
1x 250GB
1x 160GB
All for about $270

This is only in-store? All of the stores in my area are sold out. THey have the normal price advertised for all of them online.

Online is different. They have near limitless warehouse inventories. The warehouses that are tied to stores have limited stock

Just for ****s and giggles I broke open the 250GB external I picked up and it was SATA! WOOO! It's now sitting pretty next to a 320gig in my laptop. This will hold me off until I can pick up another WD 320 Scopio to run in raid.
TGS... I owe you a few more reps man...

I paid around 32 dollar I believe for this one. I picked up a different model as well for a couple dollars more then sold it for 70 bucks so technically I made a couple bucks from the deal.
