This over-inflated dollar (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090116/ts_afp/zimbabweeconomycurrency_20090116125326) is worth about $300 U.S.

In the meantime, you can pick up 20 fifty billion dollar bills on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Zimbabwe-50-billion-dollar-note-x-20-1-Trillion_W0QQitemZ320332338840QQihZ011QQcategoryZ3 422QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

I'm tempted to buy those Zimbabwe dollars on eBay and when their economy improves, trade the Zimbabwe Dollars for USD and reap a hell of a gain.

Of course, with their economy in the ****ter (I saw a reciept from Zimbabwe where dinner was like, 17 billion dollars) and ours headed there, I don't know how feasable of a plan that would be...

Why don't they just hack a dozen zeroes off their currency, starting now, and divide the value of current bills by an equal amount?

that already knocked some zeros off there currency a few times. it just keeps rising

Umm... that's what they did.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimbabwean_dollar

On August 1, 2008, ten zeroes were removed from the currency, reducing 10 billion Zimbabwean dollars to one dollar.[100] On 3 October 2008, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe suspended temporarily the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system, halting electronic parallel market transfers [101], but it was reinstated on November 13, 2008.[102]

Oh, man, I didn't know about that. Sounds like they're boned until they get someone in there who's not a brutal dictator...

On a side note, Obama wants to print another 1.3 trillion lol.

I was thinking the same thing until, "The new 100,000,000,000,000 Zim-dollar bill would have been worth about 300 US dollars (225 euros) at Thursday's exchange rate on the informal market, where most currency trading now takes place, but the value of the local currency erodes dramatically every day" haha.

The fact that this guy is already selling these Z$ at a 2000% profit kind of kills the deal already though lmao.

100,000,000,000,000 = 300 bucks
1,000,000,000,000 = 3 bucks (ebay price = 60? = 20x face value)

The fact that this could easily happen to other countries makes me fear keeping my money in paper form, and even worse, digital.

Bills turn into toilet paper. Seems I need to think about looking into metals and gems more seriously.

I was thinking the same thing but unfortunately I don't have the money to spare. Silver was down to 10 dollars a couple weeks ago. I cashed half of my silver for 21 dollars an oz just a few months ago. What's unfortunate though is it's nearly impossible to buy metals at their actual value... To buy an oz of silver right now it'd probably cost you around 15+ bucks+ whatever shipping is. Coin shops will screw you even harder.

I don't have much money to do that either. But, ever since I was a kid with a paper route I've always cringed at the thought of all my hard work and sweat being represented by a piece of paper.

When I opened my first bank account my aunt had to sit there and explain over and over again that banks were insured, and if something did happen, like a robbery or a crash, you would get your money. Well, what they never told me was that if a crash did happen, you could probably get your money to the last cent, but as we've seen with Z$, it wouldn't be worth a damn dime. So bank or no bank, cash sucks ass, or at least I've felt that way ever since I was a little kid.

The dictator won't leave, and he's getting his mob to arrest/murder the party who won.

Someone needs to start an organisation where they just shoot all the bad presidents/prime ministers of all the different countries until they get a good one, starting with RUDD >:/

EDIT: I was watching a show last night and it showed footage of Bush saying "The question are is our children learning?"

No joke.

Sure it wasn't the VB?

Rudd isn't bad, but he's not great either. It was either him or howard, and given the circumstances, Australia made the right choice.
