So I just bought a new mouse, the Logitech VX Nano, and it is freaking amazing. I mean really, it is a very nice mouse. But for the past couple days I've had one complaint, just one. That stupid freaking "hyper-scroll wheel". Basically, its uber smooth scrolling. No clicking or anything like that, just super super smooth. I mean you can spin it with your finger and it'll spin for pretty good amount of time before it comes to a stop. But the downside to this is that when you touch or move the mouse, or when you are scrolling through things, its very very sensitive. Annoyingly so, actually. Tilt it back or forward and it starts scrolling. Touch it and it moves down a line or two. etc etc.

So check this out, I decided for no particular reason to see if it was the kind of wheel that you can click with, because I remember having a mouse like that way back in the day. Well, it is. Except its not a button that does anything on the screen. When you "click" down on the scroll wheel, it changes from a hyper-scroll wheel to a standard scroll wheel!! A very nice, very accurate and precise one at that too!

Its small details like that that make a product worth every penny.

the middle button on my logitech mouse lets me zoom in on things... like on webpages etc. kinda handy.

I really like the nano's usb plug. very cool. :)

I almost lost it the first day. lol

It can actually be plugged into the bottom of the mouse too, inside of the battery compartment. Its really nice. locks into place and everything with a spring loaded button to pop it out (even the battery door has a switch to pop the door open!). But I mainly just keep it plugged into my laptop. Sometimes, while in the dark, I forget its there and I try to plug something into it. I'm like. wtf. PLUG. IN. NOW! ..oh wait.. yea thats right that lil thing is there isn't it? lol

Why they don't use the nano receivers on all logitech models I have no clue. It has great range, even compared to my old logitech optical with full sized receiver.

I expect the next advancement of micro receivers to be built in such a way that you can still plug other devices into that usb port. Kind of like christmas lights. :P

...actually once bluetooth starts becoming more mainstream, so will bluetooth mice. Thus killing the need for receivers altogether. I would of bought one of those bluetooth razer mice, but this laptop doesn't have bluetooth unfortunately.

or just get more bluetooth setups. :D that would free up your usb slots for sure!

It would be good for Spore =D (constant scrolling to get out of star systems and such)

ugh, don't remind me of Spore. **** you EA.

Although my friends who had never even heard of it until I bought the game the first day it came out LOVED it. I couldn't get them to stop playing the damn thing. But for me, knowing what it should of been, I just died a little inside, played as far as I cared to, then repressed the memory of ever having heard of the game. lol

My old Microsoft Comfort Optical 3000 has a lovely scroll wheel. If I could transplant it into my current mouse I would (or at least put back/forward buttons on the 3000). It'd be great to have it switchable, but I'm too used to my middle mouse button, so it'd have to be a bottom switch.

i have the bigger brother of that mouse, thte MX Revolution, with the same scroll wheel and love it alot. later on i got the G9 and while it has the same wheel you have to flip the mouse and push a mechanical button to change between modes. and thats the only thing i don't like about the G9.
