This (http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/sc/from-froogle.asp?id=964776595&rf=froogle&dfdate=1_16_2009) thing would be so cool, since i could hook my laptop into my 42" tv in my room with it sitting right next to me
Cept i don't think it's $175 cool.
Great concept though!

You would not want to use a USB video card for gaming. If it's just for the internet and office, it would be fine, though.

@ Nevermind,
You're probably right, but when it comes to late night gaming, I'd probably just be Peggling it up
or maybe Portal or HL2
Nothing too strenuous
or even just surfing the web.
I can see myself with my laptop late at night in bed, having all my apps on my 42" lcd
I'd love it!

Have you see how they're making wireless chargers? (Doesn't sound very safe to me... but wireless chargers are coming soon)
Basically, you're going to have these big magnets or something built into your wall and power hooked up to them... then there will be adapters for your electronics until eventually the technology will be built in.
They demonstrated the power coils being built into kitchen counters so you can just put your wireless blender, toaster etc over the hot spot and you're ready to go. They mentioned it being safer as well since the device would turn off if moved too far from the energy coil although to me nothing seems safe about this technology.

Shame you can't take the vga or digital output from the video card and have that sent via a wireless adapter so you had the full function of your latest GPU anywhere. I guess that will be the next thing someone comes up with. Could be powered from the USB.

+rep good find. Was actually looking for something along these lines. Not at that price though.

Old news. Got one on the electric toothbrush in my bathroom:

The thing it sits in (white ring inside the silver ring) is a magnetic induction charger.
nice too see you again cb,
and yes wireless power has been around for years, but nothing useful, a 60w light needed 100w to powerit, a waste of power in my eyes

i think when he said wireless chargers, he meant a charger that could be plugged into a wall, and transmit power from there and charge a battery without being plugged in and on a leash.
Best example i could think of: Plug in wireless wall device, and another into your cell phone, no cables anywhere, and the phone would then receive power.

It's still wireless to some extent.

The tech I have seen is a magnetic induction charger but its a flat sheet so you place it on (or build it into) a table, for example, and place your phone, ipod, camera, artificial leg or whatever on it - and it charges. Or they all charge at once.

it would look pretty life-like on a 42" 1080p tv
i'd rather see myself shooting stuff on half life 2 though :D
