so, just today I was looking at my computer setup and thought it was really clutered and ugly and all. So, as of today, I have been looking into modding my computer so it: is in a smaller case, has an external dvd/cd drive, have it be almost fully plexiglass, has green and blue lights that make the whole thing glow, has an external dvd/cd drive (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1749).

so, I'm asking, how do you move everything to another case? Do you put screws in the right places in the new case, take out all the hardware from the other case and screw it into the new one? How do you even take the hardware out? How do you connect LED's (or whatever other lighting you're supposed to use) to the power source? Can you have two colors in the same box? what other cool lighting systems are there? can I damage anything while moving the hardware?

so, I'm asking, how do I completely mod a computer?

okay, even more questions.....

I've decided to actually do a little bit more and work more to make a really cool computer. So I decided on a theme of 'lighting', if it's possible. Say I had three normal light dimmer switches on the computer. All through the computer there would be red, blue, and green lights. Each of the dimmer switches would control the brightness of each color of light. So the of the whole box could be changed by moving each of the dimmer swiches to form any color. Would that be possible?

To go even more all out, I was reading one of the topics about using a UV light to illuminate things. You could turn all the red, blue, and green lights off, and turn on the UV by another switch, and instantly the whole computer looks completely different!

Would that take up too much room? would it take up too much power? would it overheat? Is it too complicated for a newb?

thanks to anyone good enough to answer all the questions.

I'm not to sure on the effects of dimmer switches (the correct name is on the tip of my tongue) on Cathodes and LED lights, but im sure that it is completely possible.

If you decide to have both sets of lights in the case to switch between, dont worry about them overheating or drawing too much power, if you have a half-decent PSU you should be fine. And as far as having enough space for it all goes, clever planning can get past that easily =P.

Is this what you want to do?

If so you can take a look at this one to give you some ideas.as far as lights go there are many light kits you can buy that might do what you want.
Good luck.:)

yeah, pretty much like that except with red and green in there too
