i used all vista drivers for windows 7. They worked without a problem in both 32 and 64 bit versions of 7. give that a try.

I'm having a slightly similar issue...I unplugged both my 500GB and 400GB sata drives, plugged in a spare 80GB pata drive and proceeded to install...went through the first phase fine, then when it reboots, I get a box saying:
Out Of Range
VGA In: 1024x768
HSync: +68.8 KHZ
VSync: +85.1 HZ
Clock: 184.0M MHZ
and I cant see anything. Tried both my VGA port and HDMI, both giving me the same issue. I tried starting it in safe mode, which works fine display wise, but says "cant complete setup in safe mode. windows will restart and try again." so I let it restart, and boom, same message. So far not good for W7

Is definatly your graphics card here that is the issue. Now I know for a fact that the latest ATI drivers are out for the beta (although they are in beta themselves). Your graphics card just isnt compatible with the generic driver. Try inserting another graphics card to continue the setup, and installation of the GPU drivers. Then you can swap the cards back, and it should work.
What card do you have?
For OP, go to either nVidia or ATI's website and download the win7 beta drivers for your card. Then run the installer, and after you reboot, you should have a decent score again. Notice how the score has been increased from 5.9 to 7.9 :D

I'm insalling it on a new HDD, and my other one (this one) has XP. I never bothered with Vista

Just thought... it could be a corrupt .ISO
sounds like it trying to output the video at a higher res/refresh rate than your monitor can support.
try a monitor that supports a higher res if you can get your hands on one

if I leave both monitors plugged in, the one that shows the right side of the screen works, but of course I need to see the left for the info window. I did manage, by plugging/unplugging, to get it to work, then it went through setup, I entered the key, and it froke, so I restarted, and couldnt get it to work again
