OK guys, lets see what your computer areas look like. I'm building one in my garage, and I need some inspiration. It's up to you whether you clean them first :)
My current one must be the worst of the lot, so dont feel ashamed to show off your work/gamestations

@danthegeek: Nice setup, looks a hell of a lot more tidy than mine :). Did you custom build the desk, or did you buy it freestanding?
@crenn: That is exactly the same reason I didnt start with a picture of mine. It's in there somewhere :)

Nice. I'm thinking about making a 'room' out of it, so it is inclosed, with a door and everything. It will help keep the cold and damp out :). I will probably get a de-humidifier to, just to be safe.
Also, with it being inclosed, I can have a proper speaker layout and a rather fancy light setup :)
Is that a 360 next to the printer?

Seeing some really nice setups on this thread. I dont really have to worry about the final setup until the outside framework for the 'room' is done. That's gonna take at least till then end of the week. Then I gotta go get the plywood for the walls. Then I gotta sort out a desk shape, and because my brother's PC is in there too, I've gotta fit that in as well.
Im not really worried about keeping the air moving, as I have some spare 120mm fans lying around:)
Keep them pic's coming. Even a quick drawing in paint will do :)
EDIT:
bopher, that aint nowhere near as bad as mine :).

yeah it is attached to the wall. I made it about 2 years ago. Im thinking of expanding it in both directions. Not enough room anymore.

I will start a progress log for building my computer area sometime soon (by the end of the week). Once I find my camera to do that, I will take a pic of my current desk. You thought you have seen dis-organisation and 'mess' this bad before. You are in for a shock. :)

I'm fairly lucky in as much as I have a room, not a space - my house had a garage which the previous occupant converted into a room - it's about 22' by 10'....
I have an agreement with the wife - she has no say in what happens IN that room, and I don't let stuff that SHOULD happen in that room spill into the rest of the house

Why didn't I think of that????? Because I'm a pack-rat and you never know when you'll find a use for something lol - case in point - Silverstone Media Centre case I bought off of ebay about 2 years ago, damage wasn't repairable the way I was hoping, so was effectively scrap. Kept it 2 years and now I'm using two parts of it in K-9-PC and made the raw skeleton of it into a test-bed case ... Stuff is ALWAYS useful, eventually :p
I'd never sell something till it was 100% positively useless to me, by which time, it'd be worth so little.... you get the idea - hell there's a fully working Athlon 800 based PC in there - I have so many newer spares, I figure I can get rid of that - but who's going to buy THAT??? lol

Wow, it's been such a long time since I've been on TBCS. I've moved house since, rendering my 'PC Room' unneeded, as i now have enough space in my bedroom for my PC. That said, I could do with a rethink of my current space, and I only changed it last week :D

Mine's swallowed my basement, part of my room, a corner of the attic... I REALLY need to clean up in here, then sort through EVERYTHING I have (fans go here, wiring goes there, drives go over there...) but haven't gotten around to it.

As promised, here's mine. I currently have a whole room dedicated to my computer and school projects. I made the monitor stand for my 28" monitor out of a Ikea lack shelf that I ikeahacked. The keyboard fits underneath so I can use the desk for other things. The stand also raises the monitor to the ideal viewing height, which is 1/3 above eye level, 2/3 below. In the future I will probably get another drafting table like the one my computer is on and get rid of the folding table. It's not level and drives me nuts when cutting mats on it. I want to build a couch at some point and when that happens I'll move the dresser into a closet somewhere else in the apartment. All in all, I love my room and my desk area.
Before some needed under desk cable management.

Here's mine. I'm somewhat crammed into a corner of the extra bedroom in the apartment, but it's not too bad. Both screens are Samsung 20 inchers. My desk is this clean most of the time, but usually there's a cat on it looking out the window. Any guesses as to where the computer is?

I just posted this, then looked up and realized I forgot to take into account the stuff on the ceiling...
The fighters are all the toys, but the Star Destroyer is a 4 foot long model I scratch built way back in 1995 when I was still a senior in high school. Hard to believe it's survived 14 years of moving, falling off the ceiling (more than once), etc etc. It only weighs 5 pounds and was the first thing I ever built from scratch.

I think artoo might be another single person in this group. I have a bunch of the lego sets that were made, but I've been selling them on amazon recently. I'm only going to keep the x-wing and snowspeeder because they are the best vehicles. If they ever make an a wing I might have to get it.

thanks guys! and you'd be right to wonder whether I'm single, but I happen to be blessed with a girlfriend who thinks this stuff is pretty darn cool (in fact, I've started a worklog for a Rivendell case build that I'm going to do for her). We're coming up on our 2-year anniversary in a few months... woo hoo!
And man, I wish I had some of those lego sets, a roommate of mine years ago had several, and they were pretty darn awesome. Course, at the moment we don't have space for them (in fact, I've had to dismantle my 3d foam jigsaw puzzle millenium falcon and star destroyer....sigh....)
BTW, that rocket poster under the B-wing has a special story: my great grandfather was not only a musicologist (studied Beethoven), but was also literally a rocket scientist. He worked as an engineer for Martin Marietta on the Titan series rockets, and when he retired, his coworkers all signed that poster and gave it to him. My grandmother kept it in a closet for years, then found it and passed it to me. My family doesn't have many heirlooms, but that's a pretty cool one IMO :)

I find that "problem in locating objects" typically is when I can't find my glasses, which then results in "blurt images".
I shall now mod a squirt bottle to plug into a USB port, aim it at my always-open eyes, and set it on a 20 minute timer. That accompishes solutions 1 and 2. Solution 3 is accomplished by the novel concept of....not having a fan at all! (except IN the computer, of course).
I find that I have VERY happy health. Very. happy. health. BTW....I like spam. but only when it's fried and on my plate next to some eggs. :P

Here's my setup. This was just after I moved to the house I now live in.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j139/rstakelbeek/Afb008-1.jpg
From left to right:
just on the edge of the picture you can see the back of an old crt monitor, connected to my home-server, the open case in the back.
Also on the edge of the screen you can see the laptop of my sister.
Next to that in the front there is a laptop which I had to 'cure' for my boss, turned out the graphics card was messed up.
Connected to that laptop is the small crt monitor (above it). I had this connected because the main laptop screen sometimes didn't work (graphics card issues)
The small crt monitor is standing on my printer. Next to the printer is an old amplifier. it is connected to my main computer and has some nice mission speakers.
Next to that is the big black vrt monitor which is connected to my main rig (under the desk, just visible on the right bottom of the pic)
In front of the black crt is my old laptop with no screen (broke off). I use this laptop for mail and instant messaging (on the left most screen). The laptop is also connected to my main rig via 'synergy', a program that let's me use the laptop keyboard and mouse (and trackball next to it) on both the laptop AND the main rig (over LAN).
on the right corner of the desk is my 'back-up-keyboard and mouse', directly connected to the main rig, in case the old laptop decides to not work.

Here's my setup. I'm quite happy with it :)
Except for the cable management... Mostly because part of the attic is behind that door behind my computer and every time I or someone else needs to get something etc from there I have to move my computer : /. Good thing it's on wheels at least.

Why cant you put your comp under the desk?
Heres what my setup used to look like. Been repainting and flooring all my the bedbrooms with wood now that my brother has moved out and the white carpet is disgusting. Currently waiting for my Dad to finish the wood floor in my room before I move back in permanently.

Why cant you put your comp under the desk?
Because, among other reasons, my legs are there.
EDIT: The desk does look bigger in the picture then it really is.

How do you like those speakers? I've always been interested in the HK Soundsticks, due to the appearance, but was wary of the sound quality.
