can you buy a usb socket that will fit into a wooden box ? I am going to make the cabinet a hang on the wall (please see other post) and want a couple of usb sockets fitted in the 12mm cabinet can you buy a flat panel with usb fitted that can be fixed into a opening in the cabinet? then I was going to plug the sockets into the old usb sockets that will be hidden inside the box ?

You might want to look into "usb controllers". That, or you could buy a USB Hub and rip it apart, which would be loads easier.

If I understand you, what you are doing is making a wall mounted computer case out of wood. I remember someone doing a project like that shortly after I joined the site and probably a few others as well.
Assume what I just said to be correct then you are asking how to add USB. Well this is basically pretty much how you would do it in any other case. Most modern motherboards have beside the usb ports on the rear I/O panel have headers so you can connect usb ports that are built into the case. Usually the board has two or three pairs of headers, so you can add a max or 4-6 USB ports. Anyways you can buy something like this: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/3852/usb-02/Dual_USB_Connector_-_10_pin_connection_204_1132.html?tl=g2c36s98 which connects to a free header and adds two usb ports, that is attached to a bracket that fits in a empty expansion slot on the back of the case but you could remove the bracket and attach the usb to holes in your case (i've done it on metal cases). Because you are working with a wood case this might be a little better so you can put the ports flush with the outside edge: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/5779/cab-94/12_10-pin_Internal_USB_to_External_USB_Female_Port_Cable .html?tl=g2c36s98
I would just cut holes barely big enough to fit each USB plug and then push them in and let them get held in by tension. Hope that helps.
