Just wondering whats the normal procedure on fixing motherboard, drives etc on a non standard cabinet ? a Wooden box ?

Most folks would just drill holes that line up with the motherboard's mounting holes in whatever they wanted to fix the board on to. Wood will not conduct, so you wouldn't have to worry about using motherboard risers. You could just put a few wood screws in to hold the board in.

The only thing about this is air flow and stress on the board. If you drill it directly to a piece of wood, you might drill the screw too far and warp the board. Also, if you are putting a high end system in the cabinet you run the small risk of overheating because of no air flow under the board and CPU.
I'd grab the regular mobo spacers and use those directly on the wood.

But then the wood acts as a heatsink lol My case doesn't have any airflow behind the motherboard.

True. I guess that design with two fans would be plenty since the wood will disperse heat. I was thinking about some MDF speaker boxes we built in high school that would be unbearably hot after a few minutes of use. I wasn't on the electrical team though, so I can only assume they effed something up.

I dunno that it would disperse much heat, though - I wouldn't rely on it.
I'd just drill holes about 1/16" into the wood and glue the brass standoffs into the holes, leaving a small bit of space between the board and the wood. If you've got enough standoffs, maybe drill a bit deeper and use two (screwed into each other) per hole.

I wouldn't rely on it either. I would probably use standoffs, but it is not a must.

Most people here would do that. Normal folk, I guess they buy a new computer...
Stand-offs are vital. You also need a small amount of airflow over the back of the motherboard, but only a little.

I always use threaded brass inserts when affixing anything to wood that I might need to take off later:

The come in a variety of sizes, from 6-32 machine thread all the way up to 3/8 coarse thread SAE. They're easy to install, nearly impossible to pull out accidentally, and can be reused as many times as you want. I get mine at my local Ace hardware store.
