I was wondering if there was a way to set it up so the desktop at my house will automatically update after I connect my laptop to the network if I put new files in a folder on it at work and bring it home? I guess I could word this better. Pretty much, I would like to keep a consolidated library of music and movies in one spot, but I download or rip music from cds (and so does my wife) onto our laptop and I hate having to manually transfer files over my network to my desktop, which has a somewhat bigger library (and much more space). Any way to automatically get a certain folder to copy across the network upon login?

If I understand correctly, you want to synchronize folder between your laptop(s) and you main desktop via your network? Is so, look at these ideas:

If you are running XP pro on your computers (Vista Business or Ultimate or Win7 Beta also work, you just have to be able to join a network "domain") you can setup a SMB server (Windows server or Linux + Samba) with network login, and then your files will synchronize on login/logout.

Easy. Map a network drive. Tell windows media player to look for the music files on that drive, and also to send songs to that drive when you rip them.

Exactly the way I have it and was thinking of suggesting when I was reading. All my computers that use music have access to the music folder on my file server. I even have my 360 watching the directory so I can stream music while playing games.
