Today is my girlfriend's and my anniversary. Unfortunately she has to work from 3:30 to 9 which pretty much kills the whole day since she's not exactly an early riser.

Any suggestions?

(Off topic... how would you correctly structure that first sentence? That doesn't seem right. I wanted to say girlfriend and I's but that looked even further from correct.)

If you have the time, I turn it into a stealth campaign. You've got this morning to prep so maybe flower petals on her car or if you have access to her workplace and co-workers, notes or small visual cues about your anniversary. Things that remind her of you or your first date etc. If you went to a japanese restaurant on your first date, then a pair of chopsticks with a heart on them. Nothing individually dramatic but many small things. Follow-up with wine and chocolate, you're a hero. :)

OT: Anniversaries are specific to events not people. So I'd write it, today my girlfriend and I celebrate our 3rd anniversary.

sorry man, but what you needed here was foresight. You gotta plan this stuff in advance-if you know she's going to be working on the big day, then you move it to the first free slot in her timetable before the big day.

You could still save it, though. Take her out at the next opportunity to make up for it. ;)

Don't know your situation, but a weekend break, a drive somewhere nice, a normal dinner and a show class date-these are all good things, but you need to have the tickets on time to give to her in advance to avoid disappointment.

This is not the time to worry about grammar! Damn it lad, there's a woman involved here! Get out there and get busy making this a good night! ;)
