View Full Version : How do screw on your motherboard?

I hate newer cases that have the rise (nipple) where the screw goes in under your motherboard and into the tray. I would rather use standoffs.
Do you screw the board directly to the nipple or do you add those little orange/brown spacers between the board and tray?
I can never make them stay put.

does it line up with the i/o sheild if you put the risers then the mobo?
what case? if you need risers it will have come with the case.

If you put on risers it makes the mobo too high for the IO plate

Hah! Good one, Luke.
I've screwed 'em straight down to the "nipple" before, but if it's a machine I'm paranoid about I'll put one of those red/orange paper/rubber don't-scratch-your-case washers between the board and the case.

I found that holding the mobo upside down, and putting the screws through it and holding them in place with a small piece of masking tape worked best.
