Hey guys,
My rig isn't that great and lately I've been wanting something w/ a bit more power. I've been thinking about upgrading to something a little more modern but don't have much money. The key things i want are a Core2 Duo and DDR2 memory.
I figured that i could get away with just purchasing a New motherboard, processor and some ram and just reuse the rest of my old computer.
Anybody have any idea of just how cheaply this could be done? I would probably just purchase a basic motherboard for the time being and upgrade it if i ever wanted expanded functionality. As for ram I would probably go w/ 1 or 2 GB of budget ram. The only part I'm super concerned w/ is the processor but even there I don't need a core 2 extreme or anything insane like that. I was thinking about just buying a barebones system but wasn't sure which path would be cheaper.
Edit: After browsing around newegg It seems this is doable in the ~$200 range. I didn't realize core2's were so cheap now.
