More than I would have expected somebody to say. I just updated my speakers. That has to add $15 or $20.

So is ths just based on equipment? or does it include a modded case?
If thats the case, then I'd say some of the systems on here are priceless.

True. I think it's not figuring the modded cases into the value; I don't know.

I don't want to know, even with the 1200. Just don't want to. So I'll ask this.

DEC server
Dual P2-266
192 MB RAM (one of the sticks died)
7x 9.1 GB SCSI
No front panel
CD-ROM

Talk to me, people. :D

Anyone care to stab at my system? It may be for sale if anyone is interested? 8)

FuzzyPlushroom
02-20-2009, 09:07 PM
For the record, I got that server for free, so I suppose I'm doing all right. I'd've put down up to about $20 for it, though.

For everything outside my main box, I like to stick with hardware that's already worthless - it can hardly go down in value. P3s are great for that.

not sure why you would get an extra GTX 295 as you can only do quad sli with that. and if it were possible it would be hex-sli :)

For the price of those two Raptors, you could probably get a Solid State Drive. You'd lost the space but gain the reading speeds...probably not suitable for your rendering work though, right?

Here's a question: What should I charge for this system?

P4 2.4GHz
1GB RAM
40GB hard drive
geforce 5200
Windows XP Pro wSP3
Microsoft Office

nevermind1534
02-24-2009, 08:45 PM
I sold a socket 775 motherboard with a 3GHz P4 for $15. I'd say $250 - $300. But I do go a little low sometimes.

nevermind1534

I was thinking those cheap computers that walmart had that have linux. I don't know, that probably actually is a little closer to what it's worth, especially since it's not new. And I think those came with monitors. I don't know how those compare. I wouldn't pay that much for it, and I sold that better motherboard and proc for $15.

There need to be some sort of formula. Factors involved: depreciation, time, years owned, etc.

I'm not that great at estimating the price of older components cos each place will give you a different verdict. Give me top of the line specs and I will do it for ya in a few secs lol.

@Vital - In Australia I have seen a system like that go for around $700-$800AUD depending on age and included software.

@DF - Probably around $1000-$1200AUD with the screen.

bartvandenberg
03-01-2009, 06:17 PM
Killerman = about 300-350?
Vital = about 450-500?
Dont fear = about 700?

thats CAD, so a bit less in USD obviously. but those are prices based on other comparable used systems ive seen.

hahaha the price of tech. Good thing I didn't spend more empty cash on Windows.

Ok, this thread isn't dead yet, so I can post this without fear of accusations of necromancy.

I'm seriously considering selling my main system and starting over, can anyone give me a ballpark figure for sale? I'm talking Craigslist or Ebay price here, not a tech board like ours. (We all know the price is lower when the buyer knows what he's doing.)
