Im new to this forum and was just wondering if any mods could be put to use on a painted xbox like this. I just painted and was thinking about putting in a cooling fan somewhere where it would look good and do some work, i was thinking of putting one or two smaller fans on the right side (the one it uses to stand vertically) Im sure some laptop fans would fit there to intake air to help cooling (my old 360 which im trying to mod has overheating problems) Could i use the original fans power source to power my laptop fans?
I was thinking if i managed to do that then to try making windows in it but i have no idea what material to use. Please any suggestions would be a lot of help to me i have just began to try modding cases not hardware yet though.

I know the ring of light doesnt look well but i had a hard time with it and just left it like that.

looks good, i would paint mine and improve the cooling but i just got it. i void warranties all the time accept with consoles.

the way i would add extra cooling is replacing the TIM and adding a fan on the side. i would cut the case, add a filter and put the fan on the outside of the case. it would stick out but not a big deal.

I can understand that, the only reason im using it is because it has the red lights and i have a new.
I don't know what a TIM is...lol
I was thinking of putting some plastic inside it to flow the air through the heatsinks, but should i add a filter to keep dust out and such things?

Edit: Does TIM have something to do with the thermal paste between the heatsinks and the cpu/gpu?

correct, tim is thermal interface material.

i would swap it out for some MX-2.

I looked for some Arctic Silver brand MX-2 but the only themal compuond i could find was Freeze OCZ, and that was in another city. But i still have switched the compound with it i thought it would be better than microsofts generic stuff.

I think this is a great dual 120mm fan mod by antandshar at forums.llamma.com, the guy put the dvd drive into the 360's hd-dvd drive case so he could use dual 120mm, but if i remember rightly he grinded the heatsink for the cpu so it could fit but still i think it is a great cooling mod.

also here is my supercooling mod for my 360, bought back when it was released so is the 1st revision 360 and been running it in this state for nearly 2 years, for mounting the heatsinks i used 2 aluminium floppy case covers drilled both ends & trimmed both corner ends and used my bolts, springs and nuts from my d-tek water block to clamp it down and used video card copper memory blocks for the memory, i extended the dvd power cable and used a normal sata cable so it can be placed next to the console, both gpu and cpu go just above ambient temps, never seen red light of doom:up::banana:

Awsome! your probably one of the very few people that havent given up on that first 360. I think its pretty cool that you have a god-like xbox 360 but i want to just make some cooling fans in it so that nothing has to be removed and nothing is sticking out more than 1-2 inches. antandshar's mod looks good but as i said i dont want to take out anything.
I havent made any cooling system yet but i painted the final design on the top side.
