That's right.. I pulled the trigger on the account tonight. It's really frustrating me that the only way to get into arenas is to get to level 70, but then you get pitted against level 79's... which basically 1 shot you.

Battlegrounds are the same.. once you hit 70, you get grouped with 70-79's. Wow.. you mean I could die 500 times, and then lose every BG I'm in? Great. If that wasnt enough, I get chewed out by some jerk in the group for PVPing at 70. Yeah thanks buddy.. it's not like I want to be useless in the battlegrounds, but PVP was the only fun I was having with World of Warcraft for a long time.

I guess I should have stayed at level 69, but to be honest, the rewards for PVP are really awesome at level 60, and really awesome at level 70 (and 80)... in between, they arent that great.

At 69, you can get better items through questing than the level 60 rewards, so there's no point in buying them... and even IF you buy the level 70 gear, it's essentially useless since you'll be facing people up to level 79.

So that's it kids.. I told off the guy in the BG who was giving me sh*t for PVPing at 70 (even AFTER I managed to land 10 killing blows in the last bg, against players who were ALL higher level than me.. I even solo killed a 74), then nuked the account, and gave Blizzard a piece of my mind in my cancellation form.

I realize now that Guild Wars has a much better system.. it's about skill, not money and wasting time. I'll likely go back to that tomorrow night.

I stopped playing WoW at level 63. It just wasn't fun anymore and I would always get my ass handed to me in PVP. That, and I started to run low in disc space. I went from like 400mb to 16gb just from uninstalling WoW.

The new death knight class was pretty cool though. But I thought it was pretty much total BS that you can only create one per server and you have to have at least a level 55 in that server already.

WoW is way too heavy of a game to play anymore. If you don't devote a quarter of your life to it, then you can't get anywhere. Just playing an hour a day got me nowhere in the game. I suppose if I were to put on my chuck norris face whenever I played I could of made some headway, but its just not fun so why bother.

I spend the bulk of my time reading and watching The F Word now. I think about going outside every now and again, but I'm like 99.9% sure that the sun is out to get me. :-P

I've made some pretty serious changes in my life over the last 24 hours, and there are far more to come.

:)

You no longer need to have a level 55 character on a specific server to create a DK, now it's just "you need to have at least a 55 character on ANY server to create a DK on ANY server."

12.5gb freed up with that uninstall. :)

nobody likes a quitter, you can get 80 in under a week with casual play, and decent gear, it just takes a bit of effort.. but i understand your frustration.. you want to be hand fed, alot of wow players do...

Thus its called World of CasualCraft in my eyes.. to many folks like this cried about "disadvantages" in combat.. so they nerf the game to an unchallenging state.. kinda sucks

Did you read my entire post? I cannot afford to purchase the expansion pack, therefore I cannot progress beyond level 70. That pretty much means that no matter how good I am at my level, I will be beaten by higher level characters. I am disappointed that there is not more emphasis on skill, and that people with deeper pockets than I can defeat me in PVP simply because they can level to 80.

I did not ask to be "hand fed".. I did not ask for anything that I feel to be unreasonable. I imagine that people were in the same situation before Burning Crusade came out.. they level to 60, and suddenly they are in a new bracket. What happens to the people who cannot afford the expansion pack? They are stuck at level 60, getting beaten by higher levels.

People who do not purchase the expansion pack should have the option of remaining in their last available bracket, rather than being forced to play against people with more money. We are all paying the same monthly subscription, so why not make a gesture to people who cannot afford to upgrade? Once you purchase the expansion, you progress to the next bracket, other wise you remain in the current one.

I only feel that my disadvantage in combat was due to being grouped against players who are far ahead of me.

*I've removed this, since it only proves I'm the same.*

Luke, this will be the best choice you've ever made. I quite playing that damn game last year and haven't looked back since.

I quit playing months and months ago. My brother is still tied at the hip to it though. Every time he "quits" he's back within weeks. Just minutes after canceling his account the last time he was asking over and over again for my old account (hunter/pally/lock).

I'm glad I left. And no, you can not go from 70 to 80 in a week casual. Lots of people can't even put in 1 hour a day. I'd like to see 70 to 80 in under 10 hours (minus the time it takes to get yourself all set each day) playing like a casual player, questing.

My available time for video games has been split up between L4D, Tf2, and I just started playing Diablo 2.

Ha. I know how that goes. Every time there is an expansion I have a nerdgasm and I just have to go out and get it. I think this was the final straw though. After three years of off and on play, its just boring now, even with the extra content from the Lich King expansion.

Diablo 2 has to be one of the best games ever created. I remember back in the day before they change the online play and hacking wasn't so simple, some guy decided to quit and he gave me the sweetest freaking battle ax I have ever seen in that game. I asked him what it was worth and he just said it was one of a kind and then logged off. I was the envy of all my friends who I played D2 with. Its too bad that they erase accounts after awhile of inactivity, otherwise I would still have it and it probably would still be one of the sweetest weapons in the game, hacked or not.

I can't wait for Diablo 3!

If y'ask me, Luke, they should make all the expansion packs free downloads if they're going to charge a monthly fee anyway. Just seems right.

I've never played WoW, and never plan to. Glad to see that my decision was a sound one.

I started playing on closed b.net till like lvl 10, but then realized open b.net you use the character you play single player with. Characters never get deleted, unless you do it, or lose data to a format or something. I play with my brother so I could care less about open being full of hackers and such. Anyone I'd play with I'd trust enough not to hack or dupe.

As for WoW, i quit long before the new xpac. Tried Warhammer for a while and really enjoyed it for what it was, but I'm done with MMO's. How dumping hours and hours into a game makes you better, or not "casual", or "hardcore" I don't understand. No matter which way I look at it, its repetition. Oh noes, wowz gone soft bcuz peeplz who put 10 owrs a weekz in get purplez 2 when I put 40. To each their own I suppose, but my tombstone isn't going to say "I gotz dual Glaives, wut u got nub?", lol.

Which is what most MMOs are... especially if you have friends you need to keep up with.

I'm glad I left. And no, you can not go from 70 to 80 in a week casual.

Totaly forgetting the fact the frenchmen went 70-80 in under 29 hours... Hackless... After the Lichking Release( Hardcore Gamer )

Its very possible to go 70-80 casually playing... I know its very possible cuz i did it with a prot pally..

And hate to burst your bubble, but with Questing you can Easily get a level an hour.. Two hours at the most...

Armory me.. Bahnkai, not the greatest.. but ive tanked lichking 25mans etc..

That's definitely not casual. 29 hours of play in a week is definitely not casual either; That works out to 4 hours and 15 minutes per day! Maybe someone who lived with their parents, and didnt have a job.. or friends..

The easiest way to settle this is simply with proof. Show us some proof that you can go from 70 to 80 in a week at a casual pace.

Its definitely possible to go from 70 to 80 in a week, but casually? I have my doubts. So own up and provide some form of proof.

29 hours is 414%+ of what I stated many people could only play a week (1 hour a day each day => 7 hours a week).

4 hours and 15 minutes of wow each day is far from casual. That's part time job amounts, or more than half a regular work day.

Casual is a tough definition to nail down, so lets define it in other terms. A casual amount of time playing a game should be equal more or less to the duration of a real good casual romp in the sack. An hour each day? That's quite doable. 4 hours and 15 minutes every single day? The chances of either having a heart attack, or something permanently breaking, increases logarithmically each marathon session:D.

As you can now see, marathon != casual.

It defintely leaves less room for any game. The trick is finding something you both like. My SO plays PS2 with me and Wii. We even played PSP SOCOM for a while. We like games and some of those cross over and gives us something cheap to do together. I'd give them up for her though. I'D be bored out of my skull all the time but I'd give them all up.

I hear ya. I'm lucky as my SO likes to game as well. We play TF2 together now; I cringe when she tops the charts and has just started playing. I think its the art style though, as a lot of other shooters she will just watch, or rather just play Sims.

Dropping WoW does leave a lot of time for other things. WoW can have its good moments but when you look back at the time spent, much of it feels wasted. It takes very large amounts of time to get to the moments you tend to remember as great.

Well actually, my first two hours were the best, and everything after just kinda dropped off into a grind of trying to catch up to my brothers who were already approaching 60.

I quit playing a month after playing.
Then I got bored.
Started playing again.
And that's what I do now, it took place of my drum time. And also takes up all my time.
But oh well, one day I'll be motivated to not playing anymore. But at the moment I'm motivated to get to 80.

I Recently quit wow after about a year and a half of playing it. I just god bored. My guild had finished the game, I had two level 80's and over 18000 gold. We beat all the content long ago and it just got boring. Ive had a lot of free time lately though. It was a real addiction for me, I had like 100 days played. I was time to quit. I'm glad some other people are making the same choice. I was almost all I did. That's why I all but completely disappeared from the forums and stopped posting awhile back. It was really bad. And I feel much better now that ive quit.

I quit WoW... can't remember how long ago. It just was not a fun game. I'm also in the process of quitting gaming altogether with maybe some casual play with friends or racing games on occasion (and by casual I don't mean 29hrs a week, hahaha, I mean like an hour per few days).

I've slowly come to realize that games are pretty much entirely entertainment. I did learn some things by playing games when I was younger but they're not real enough for me anymore. I'm moving over to drawing, painting, living. Congrats to everyone else that's quit that abomination known as "World of Warcraft."

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm starting keyboard lessons up again and also that I have a guitar I"ll be learning to play in the near future. I also have classes and need to get a job and build up my social life. This also plays part of my absence from TBCS. Computers just don't interest me as much as they used to. To me they're a tool now, not a gaming contraption.

Also, check out my gallery on dA. Link is in my sig. I have been busy. :D
