How I promised you do you get now the project log to my first mod „BS-Baumstamm“.

Well all stated in April 2006 when I searched for some creative work in my free time. After a short time I came to the decision to mod my pc. And because I would have a PC which has nobody I watch more than 1000 cases in a lot of internet forums. The only thing that didn´t see was a pc in a piece of a log. So the idea for my first mod was born!

After a too short planning stage I started with the building. And so looked the first phase of this case…

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/3-99.jpg
…I hope your aren´t very startled about the quality in comparison the pictures of the Sinuskurve!

Well because of some space problems the mainboard had to “leave” this place and I installed it at another place. Besides I put the PSU in a Case mode of Plexiglas. On the bottom of the case I put some white pebbles with some white LEDs between them. At the end of the second phase (after 4 months) the case looked how you could see at the following pictures…

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/7-36.jpg
…but how you could see, too wasn´t the case really finished (no window, some things at the backside of the case…), but I was “ready” and not in the mood to continue.

Three months later the project “BS-Baumstamm” continued. But there were two problems on the one hand the log was awry and one the other hand I got new ideas for the case.
After I planed and abraded the log it looked so
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/8-27.jpg

But this wasn´t the only change on the case. Also I cut a big hole on the right side of it.
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/10-16.jpg

In this hole found two HDDs place how you could see on the next three pictures.

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/13-7.jpg

And at least I cut something out of the back side of the case, that I had enough space for the connectors of the mainboard, the graphic card and the modem.

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/15-5.jpg

But I didn´t chance only the log, also some things at the inner case. The DVD-drive got a window mod with some LEDs…
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/16-3.jpg

Also I had to build the case for the PSU once again, because the “old” didn´t consort with the case and my new plan.
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/17-2.jpg

Well and when I was ready with these things I could start with the assembling….

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/19-1.jpg
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/20-2.jpg

…and because of an unsettled reason the fan controller caught fire how the following photo shows…
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/21-2.jpg
…this was very annoying, but I couldn´t change it.

And at the end of the third phase the case looked so

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/23-1.jpg
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/24-2.jpg

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/27-2.jpg
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/28-2.jpg

Just before the DCMM (german casemodding contest) I got the idea of an socket on which I put the PC.
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/29-2.jpg

And so looked the PC at the DCMM
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/30-1.jpg

But how you could anticipate wasn´t the PC ready yet. And a fourth building phase followed, because the hardware was too hot without a radiator, the first reason. And the second reason do you see at this photo….
http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/31-2.jpg
…a little hole in the cooling circulation was the cause of this “dilemma”, and I was constrained disassemble the case.

The following pictures show the mounting of an old bike radiator in the socket of the case.

http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc82/Superpeter69/37.jpg

And here three photos of the final case.

Concluding I wanted to say some words about my first mod. I know myself that the quality of this mod isn´t nearly as good as the quality of the Sinuskurve, and I hope your aren´t very disappointed! But this was my first mod, I was 16 years old, hadn´t a lot of experience and made one of the biggest mistakes in casemodding, I didn´t had a good plan from the beginning, so four building phases were necessary to get a halfway good PC. So a tip to all the modders, especially to the younger ones, take the time to plan your mod good!
Despite of the not really good workmanship the PC was an eyecatcher at the fairs I exhibited the PC. And if I´ll have sometimes too much time and too much money I would build a second version of this PC.

At least a little pretaste of my next project log
