so today i bought a new 9400 and put it in my pc and it the pc started up fine then come up with boot disk failure, made sure all the plugs are in adn they are still comes up with boot disk failure. so i put my old card in does the same thing fidle with it for a bit works so than i thiught it would be safe to try to put the 9400 back in but still says boot diskfailure tried my old card to and now does the same things. so any ideas that you think will work would be great dosent matter how silly the idea is i need to get it to work.!

Are all the HDD cables plugged in firmly?

Did I understand you correctly; after replacing the old card and...ahem..."fiddling with it"....it resolved the problem? If so, make sure any auxiliary power cables to the card are plugged in. Also, try removing every card except the new card and testing it again. If it works, replace them one by one until the issue resurfaces.

I just had another play with it and realised it says boot from cd/dvd: boot failure.
Then i got to change it from booting of a cd/dvd to hdd but still says boot from cd/dvd. Does this mean my hard drive is stuffed. And both cords are in firmly to power and motherboard.

Is the computer recognizing the HDD?

Is it listed in the BIOS?

That would be my next move too, look for it in BIOS and you may also need to change your boot disk priority in BIOS as well if it is looking for the CD/DVD first.

If it is in there, you might have to reinstall the OS.

Hope you didn't shock something. I don't see any reason that the HDD would have a fit over installing a new card unless A) you fried something or B) you bumped a wire out/missed a wire while installing.

well for a sata hard drives theres only to cords right? the sata cable from the harddrive and the power cable. which all appear to be connected right. going to check the bois now to see if its listed in it.

speaking of bloodsucking, do you have a decent rated PSU?

ok, so silly idea prolly...

Do you have more than one HDD in there? If so are they all Sata? if so is the OS HDD plugged into the right sata port? If not, change it around so that the OS one is plugged into port 0 (i think - someone else put me right if im wrong) and see if that sorts it. Just a random guess that really, but worth a shot :)
