Average price of a game in Australia ($50-60 for expansion packs)

At the current exchange rate: AUD$46.87 + Shipping

I know that shipping and a retailing bumps up the price a bit, but seriously... I can't work out why Australians pay so much more than everyone else.

I have a few friends in Australia, I went to buy one a 4870x2 and found out it would cost an extra $211 because of the border taxes!!

I feel for you guys over there!

Only way to get cheap games is ebay (the joy of getting support from EA for that) or ordering it overseas.

'course it ain't fair, but Australia is a smaller market than, say, Western Europe or the US/Canada.

Also we have no R18 rating for games in Australia so the Grand Theft autos we get have been edited and the manhunt games are banned here. :(

We're smaller, but not that smaller.

And that's the real problem. Talk about encouraging piracy, people (and probably fostering a market of eBay sellers offering Manhunt shipped in a "Fluffy Happy Bunny Extravaganza 3" case and disclosed as a copy of FHBE3 when it goes through customs)...

Every time I start thinking Australia's awesome, I look at some of the laws you guys pass and decide I'd be better off admiring Canada.
