So, my wife decided she wanted a computer built a couple days ago, so off i went to price something out. I just happen to look on the local ad website around my area, and saw what i thought was one of those "sounds too good to be true, it probably is" ads.

well i decided to call the guy anyway. turns out, its some rich guy that just upgraded to core i7 and almost giving away his old components. heres the list of stuff i picked up today..

Asus Striker II Formula 780i motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
2 X 2gb OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 1066 MHz Platinum
Zalman 9700LED heatsink/fan
Thermaltake Mozart TX (with window)
Creative SB X-fi Platinum

So, thats the list of stuff.

Now, the kicker........It cost me.....$300 CAD

hows that for a deal?

Sorry, im just so happy with it all , i had to share it with others.

So now, im just gonna add a 640gb WD black HD, Enermax PSU, and GPu, and im set to go with a top notch system, for less than $500 bucks or so.

Very nice, you got lucky on that one. Gotta love bleeding edge consumers.

there is a good chance of that yup. the nice thing is, even overclocked, that 6600 should still run strong for a long time. and i dont care if the mobo dies, since i havent read too much good about it. its just part of the package for me

i doubt it, if he knows how to overclock then he knows he could have gotten way more for that rig.

unless he is that rich.

Hell, I'm still happy with my Pentium 4 2.8GHz. That quad core should last you a good decade or two at least!

You could sell the mobo and buy a new one. It looks like you could get a good penny for it. Even a third of the retail price would give you enough to buy a brand new decent new one. Then take what you would normally spend on one, combine it with what you made off of the one you have now, and there you go, a nice new motherboard.

well, i sold the x-fi for $100 bucks tonight. I have the motherboard for sale. If it sells, ill buy a p5q pro. also probably sell the case, and just get haf932 or something.

even thinking of putting the ram for sale. I should be able to get 70 bucks for it on ebay. All computer stuff sells for a ton on ebay. Then ill buy some better stuff.

either way, sell anything or not, im laughing. the q6600 is a 'go' revision too.

Plus, the guy i bought it from is some old single guy, who swears he didnt overclock anything.
