:banghead:
This is what happens.
-All compliments of my 4 year old son.
This happend over the weekend. I was upstairs and my wife was reading a book, so neither of us saw it happen. But he claims it was an accident.

Warranty company is deliberating if they are going ot cover it or not. For my son's sake, I hope they do or its comming out of his college fund.
And to top it off. Yesterday the vinyl cover on my truck bed completly came unglued from the frame and basically desinigrated.
So what else can go wrong you ask? well, leaving this morning for work. my gargarge door openener failed to open the door all the way. so its going out too.
Man, this is turning out to be one hell of a week and its only tuesday!!! :dead:

You know the first wave of Wii consoles were released without the wrist strap. Nintendo were sick of having to pay for new TVs so they implemented it into the design after that. A Wii remote isn't the grippiest things to and thanks to the smooth surface it is quite easy to lose grip if you have sweaty hands. I threw a Wii remote at my brothers head by accident while playing tennis with my cousins lol, by accident :D.
Real bad luck there Dan but you know what they say, bad things always come in three's. Things will get better for you.

actually, as far as i remember, they did. but it was too thin, so they made it with thicker "robe".. i remember that we got a bunch down in the store that we could give to fokes that bought one:D and since then theyve put rubber thingies around all wii motes sold:)

ya i think its that they shipped with thin ones. i got my wii on release day and it had one. they offered by mail for free to ship the better wii straps so i got 4. then they later offered the wondoms for the controllers and i also got 4.

Make a rule that if he wants to play wii the remote must be tightly strapped around his wrist. Just like teaching kids to wear a seatbelt.

By first wave I meant BETA consoles. When they were released they had the crappy ones which they then upgraded to the nylon braid ones.

Yeah, I know he didn't mean to do it on purpose. And yes, it is a sharp Aquos 37". Paid about $1600 for it new about 1 1/2 years ago. So yeah, it still sucks though. Haven't heard anything if they are going to cover it or not.
As for the wrist strap and silicon cover. Nintendo does ship the remotes with these covers. but they are a pain in the ass if you have a recharging dock. and the remotes won't fit into the adapters with it on. I mean the steering wheel, guitar, drums etc. So we never used the silicone protectors. As for the wrist straps. -you can bet a million dollars that that will be manditory when we get a new tv. I've also looked into a screen protector for it. But they are too expensive to buy. $160 for a piece of 1/4" plexiglass cut to shap and some straps to mount it. I can build one for a fraction of the cost and have it protected. The only downside is the glare I will get from it.
But its better than buying another tv.

I've seen anti-glare spray used on glass picture frames. That might work for the glare issue. Not sure where it's sold, but photo supply or framing shop might know.

I remember when dad was insuring our 50" Samsung P series Plasma. The guy basically said if it breaks (e.g backlight goes out or the panel dies) most insurance companies (here in Australia) won't cover that sort of thing and neither will the manufacturer under basic warrenty, if it's broken out the box it's fine, u break it your screwed. The guy said just knock it off the cupboard or wherever it sits and the insurance will pay out because it is an accident lol. I couldn't stop laughing. This may not work for you but our insurance allows for accidents. I should claim my broken mobo and say my PC is broken and get the $4k payout on it :D lol.

Hey, got some good news. The warranty company has decided to pay to replace the tv instead of fixing it. WHEWWWW!!!
They are not giving me anywhere close to what I paid for the tv. but enough to cover the cost of replacing it with a similar (different Brand) tv.
I just have to go pick it up. :)
Man is that a huge weight off my sholders.
They are offering a LG tv. 37LG50 is the model number.
Anyone know if they are any good?

No idea, but I have the exact same 37" Aquos, and I'd be sad to replace it with anything else.

Look at Toshiba. My 37" was the best at the time when it was purchased, according to consumer reeports, and, in person, it looked way better than all of the other ones.

Hey guys. Went and picked out my new tv tonight. I got a 40" Sony Bravia Tv. http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665376315
It only ended up costing me $100 more, so I figured why not.
I did buy another 4 year extended warranty on it though. so that was another $149. But since saved my arse once, I figured it was worth it.
I did stop at lowes and pickup a 2'x4' piece of 1/4" thick plexiglass to make a screen shield for it. I measured it at the store and had lowes cut it to the size I needed. -Saved one step there.
Came home and cut out some small 4"widex1" deep tabs at the top to bend back at a 90Deg angle so the protector can hang off the top of the tv.
After I got it cut, I clamped it between 2 pieces of wood and heated it up untill it started to bend. then I simply bent it down and let it cool.
Lastly I tried my and at some flame polishing. -Didn't turn out too bad.
Now I just need to go pickup the tv tomorrow. I couldn't bring it home because it would not fit in my car.
I'll post some pics of the new tv and screen protector as soon as I get it setup.
-Man that is one huge weight lifted off my shoulders.

Nice buy, the Sony Bravia's are a very nice TV. We looked at them but still settled on the Samsung Plasma, the clear plastic 'photo frame' style framing looks quite tacky IMO. I don't know if they have updated but when we were looking at the start of 08 they still had that design.

Ahh! You made a plexiglass screen protector? That's genius! I should have thought of that before my screen decided to look like a smaller twin brother of your old TV. Dang, I'm definitely going to do that in the future.
Thanks for the idea! Albeit one too late, but good for future products. +rep!
Also, where be the pictures yo? :p
