Well, after about 4 months of planning, decision making, thoughts, nervousness, and stress from trying to make it perfect, today is the day I get engaged.
All she knows is we are going for a spring break trip as we've never had a vacation, even a day/night getaway, and are going to take pictures to break in the camera from Christmas.
I'm taking her to a waterfall tucked away in New Hampshire. She said early on that a waterfall would be her most romantic site if it ever happened; well here it is hun! It's about an hour or so hike into the woods to a waterfall that's about 120' vertical drop plus some, so should be beautiful. I am going to ask her there.
Then we've got dinner and a night in North Conway, NH and a hotel suite with a fireplace and hottub in the room. Should be a romantic and fun day. Keeping all this from her for four months was ridiculously hard. Quite literally my biggest secret from her ever.
TL;DR : Today is the day I get engaged. I alluded to the concept before, but today is the day!
Shoot, she's coming out of the shower now, got to go. Wish me luck.

The suspense is killing me! Let's hope she didn't fall into the river from shock. However, if he set his camera to autosnap for a few minutes then I'm sure it'd be an awesome photo album, lol.

I wouldn't think so. Getting online would be the last thing on my mind. North Conway is beautiful all along the White River and I think I remember the waterfall that he is referring to and that area is beyond words.

Hehe, thanks for all the kind words guys. Sorry I couldn't respond sooner 8).
She said yes. Woot! Burst out crying, but somewhere in there I swear I heard a yes. Lol, jk, hehe.
The waterfall was amazing. Arethusa Falls for those interested. About 1.5 mile hike uphill, except it was entirely covered in snow. The trail was packed down from those who ski/hike up the trail then ski down, but there was 2-8' of snow in parts. The trail was very narrow in places, and she fell and got sunk into the snow on multiple occasions. I did once on the way going down but let's keep that quiet. :D. It was all uphill and quite difficult, but I had plenty of motivation. To put how deep the snow was there were two walking bridges and the snow came up to the railing on each of them. Thank god it was packed down.
The waterfall was frozen when we got there, completely. But we got to walk around the base of it where you never would have gotten if it was melted. The thing was amazing. Like a humongous glacier. Completely freaking beautiful, and we had it all to ourselves.
So ya, that's the story. And, sorry I couldn't respond sooner for those wondering, but, I, um, couldn't,.

Here are some pictures from the hike. Sorry they aren't any better, but I could not focus on pictures with everything else going on in my head. By the time we hit the waterfall they were shaking so its the best I could do. Not to mention it was very cold, but refreshing.
Parking lot sign.

Frozen waterfall. Very tall, perspective kinda hides that.
http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/92/img1069.jpg
Perspective still off but hopefully this helps. She is about 25-30' away from me, and the falls another 75-100' from her from what I figured. Everything we are standing on and all that snow would just be a pool of water if it was warmer. And she is about 5'5", so its very tall, seeing as I was on much lower ground than her.

I told imageshack to resize but I guess it was trying to keep the aspect of the picture. As I couldn't get everything from where I was without holding the camera sideways.

Ya, it really was beautiful. She likes hiking and loves waterfalls so after a few months of thinking and pondering it seemed like the perfect place.
It really was a trial for me, as with the bar in my chest I get a lot of pains and extremely winded just walking around a mall for 15 minutes, nonetheless a 1.5 mile hike up part of a mountain through snow, then another 1.5 miles back down. I was motivated though, and even though it hurt like a biatch after and I was completely out of breath/energy, I just took some ibuprofen and was good to go for dinner and such. Putting myself through a trial, and coming out the other end, made it even more special/important to me.
Surgery to take the bar out is in July (2 years with this bad boy =) ), and though it should go fine, its a metal bar above my heart and lungs . . . I really needed her to know how I felt before I went through that again. It's been four years with her, and she needed to know that.
Thanks guys! Means a lot to me. And she laughed her ass off about some of the comments hehe.

You should take a picture of the Ring and her...

The only ones I've got so far were from soon after I got down and asked her at the waterfall. They are completely out of focus as my hands were shaking everywhere.
Funny how you get a bit nervous even when you know what the answer is going to be.
I will try and get a pic of the ring at least sometime along here.

Here is a pic of the ring. This is her pic from her camera, but the only one I've got that's visible right now, lol.

Doesn't really show it off as best as it could but there ya go. It's got a lot of history in my family, and even before it was in my family. Not sure how old it is, but got it appraised by a jeweler and such. My uncle got it for my aunt when she lost her engagement ring. That was 15-20 years ago. They've been married for well over 40 years, 46 I believe, so it has some good luck. He got it from an estate sale of an old couple who passed away, and apparently the man had it custom made for the woman, and is quite old. That's about all I know about it, but knew when I saw it that it was the right one, and nothing I could purchase at a store could compare.

Thanks again guys. As for date, she wants a longer engagement. We've been together 4 years and she wants it around the time we graduate college. We're hoping June 3rd in two years. Might go a bit earlier or a bit after, but that's about the time she was hoping I'd ask her, so prob about the time we do it. She didn't think I was going to ask her for another 2-4 years, as that's what I've always said. Wanted to be out of college and a good job for a while, but things change hehe.
As for the bar, I used to be a martial artist from when I was 5 to about 18. Apparently it kept my body strong enough to hold off what was wrong with me. My chest caved in a little bit but never noticed it. Well once I stopped martial arts and my body started to weaken I started having real issues with breathing. A few emergency rooms later and several doctors turns out I needed a bar in my chest to keep my chestwall away from my heart and lungs. My little brother had the same issue, genetic connective tissue disorder. If I didn't get the surgery, well, to put it this way . . . the doctors all thought I should have already have had a heart attack/respiratory failure. Getting good insurance and 150k surgery later and I can breathe again, but because I was older than this usually is done to I needed extra braces inside, and those unfortunately are attached to spots where lots of nerve endings are so lots of pain all the time. But I'm strong and deal, almost out anywho hehe. So ya, comes out July and things should be good, better at the very least.
Anyways, enough of that. I will say that I lurked forever on this site, and right before my surgery is when I started designing a case mod and joined. I didn't want to not get the chance to experience at least part of what those here were seeming to have great happiness in doing.

Hehe, you guys are awesome.
And no, no making babies, at least not any time soon I hope. On the other hand babies is what made it easier to break this to the family as her younger sister is a senior in high school and just got pregnant and recently broke the news. Was easier to talk to her father after he's already been bombarded with that hehe.

Man, congratulations. I'm really glad to hear it; you needed something really good in your life.
It's beautiful up there, all right; weird seeing everything still frozen as we've had a few days in the 50s down here (~15 minutes from the Mass. border). Great place to take 'er.

Wow, thanks again guys. Hehe, and the first thing I thought of when my post of engagement brought sly back was "Rise From Your Grave" (http://www.entertonement.com/clips/44219/Rise-From-Your-Grave-Sound-Effect?fl_link=) and for some reason it was followed by the transformation song lmfao. I must want to go back and play it again lmfao.
Anyways thanks again guys! Oh, and its not the waterfall that's cutting out the internet, its the bling from the ring once you put it on her finger, muahahaha. lol.
