View Full Version : Plumber/cabinet maker games
So, this is what I've been busy with for the last few days I've had off. It's not a hard install, but I ran into some soldering issues which caused my shop to flood. I got the butcher block for free :devcool: and decided to make a counter top out of it. I have to treat it and face it out yet.

Didn't fit front to back, so we had to splice it together. Can't even see the seam.

My grandmother has the same type of thing thing above a cupboard that was added when the dishwasher was installed next to the sink.

Now you just need to stealth the dishwasher in with the rest of the kitchen, add some LED's, add some cooling fans... wait scratch that, its already water cooled...
lol you know you visit this site too much when you start looking at everything and think "You know, that could use some more LED's" or "That would look so much better if it was modded to match its surroundings".
I love that wooden two tone look, very nice looking!
Now you just need to replace the dishwasher door with a matching wooden one, then add some vandal resistant switches hooked up to the dishwasher buttons.... wait, damn, I'm doing it again huh? lol
Thanks guys. I'm hoping to get it faced tomorrow. Oh, and my Dad's working on a gaming table. I'll get that posted up too. Zephik.. lol dude, +rep

SgtM - DUDE!!! lol.... DUDE EGGS
Got it sealed with mineral oil today. Oh man, it looks good. I'll take more pictures after it's all completed though.
Here's the finished product. I think. The stain doesn't quite match, so I might try a cherry stain on a scrap piece and see how that looks. The butcherblock was treated/sealed with 3 coats of Mineral Oil.

Yeah, that looks wicked! +rep again!
Thanks guys. Yeah, I think I'm going to have to take that front back off and sand/restain with a cherry. There's no poly on it right now, so it wouldn't be hard to do. Would take probably 5 minutes with a power sander. That'll have to come later though. Next week I'll be starting on refinishing my family room. I'm tearing out the nasty wood paneling, hanging sheetrock, and painting. Yeah, I'm gonna be busy. That'll hopefully be the last of the indoor projects until after Summer, or maybe until next Spring.

Night shots? Or did you not install any ambiance lighting? :D
Looks great, can't wait to see the next home improvement you're going to tackle.
