Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a new LCD Thermometer to replace the one I burnt out in Dark Carbon. (The red led burnt out).

Rather than buy another one exaclty like it and modding it again, I thought about buying one of these.
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/image/6892/tmp-48.jpg/tmp-48/Thermal-Star_Digital_Gauge-Syle_Thermometer_TM05.html

But the only place I can find it online is FrozenCPU.com. and they have been out of stock for it for a while now.

I did find it on ebay from a company in China. and its only $10 shipped, but they said it could take up to 3 weeks to get it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230331623294&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching

Anyone know where else I might buy one of these?

exactly, I couldn't find them on google anwhere except FrozenCPU or Ebay. Looks like I might just have to wait for it.

I'm replacing this display.

Basically what happend was it came from the factory as a blue backlight. when I popped it open, I found that it was actually a RGB color backlight so I could make it any color I wanted. But it only had one resistor wired into the blue led. So I simply made it connect to the red led instead of the blue. The problem is that the red led takes a different current than the blue so it was the incorrect sized resistor. It worked for the time being, but after it had been on for a while, it eventually burnt out. So I figured I'd just replace it with something else thats NOT BLUE!!! -the only other red temp. display I could find is this one.

I just thought it looked too plain to use. Maybe its not so bad and I'm just being picky.

What do you guys think?

I've got that same one dan, it uses blue for normal mode and red for alarm mode (overheat, low coolant, etc), maybe put two separate LEDs in it? also, when you would turn the rig on, would that LCD panel beep a few times? Mine does sometime, but not others :?

Nope, mine does not beep. that might have something to do with the alarm.
I went ahead and ordered that one from ebay.

that one from ebay looks wicked neat

When I turn my computer on, the display is red (alarm mode) and it'll beep quickly for 2 or 3 seconds, then stop and go back to normal, but lately it hasnt been doing it

Would you care to get rid of the old one? I might be interested in taking it off your hands.
