I'm looking at buying a new motherboard and need to know what "memory standard" is. I've always bought motherboard and RAM at the same time and made sure they matched, but this new board shows memory standard DDR2 1066, and I am hoping to use my existing DDR2 800 memory. Can I safely assume the board is backward-compatible with this memory?

Thanks!

DDR2 1066 refers to the speed of the RAM, not the type. Your DDR2 800 will work fine, just be aware that depending on your processor, your CPU could be bottlenecked.

best bet for when your building up a system and want to avoid the bottleneck... have the ram the same speed as your FSB..or faster... altho.. unless your tryin to play crysis on full specs.. (basicaly for e-pecker rights) then u dont have to worry much...
