Not sure if this has been done before or not, if it has, im sorry. I just realized the other day that what i do is pretty cool. A lot of people have some pretty dull boring jobs. Since this is a modding/fabricating type website, i thought my job somewhat suited that, as im a fitter/welder. I fabricate soo many parts in a day, and everything we build is custom.
So, here are some pics of one of my favorite trucks i built. this company is local to my area, and always buy the best of the best, most expensive, every option possible. I work at Walinga's Inc. and build custom aluminum hopper feed bodies.
enough of my babbling, and onto the pics of this showwinning truck. (note, I didnt build the peterbilt truck, only the trailer:D)
cost of there trailers are between $100,000 and $150,000 CAD. This truck may be more.

nice! I work here (http://breezybendrv.com/), as the parts manager and part-time mechanic. Slow this time of year though, but I get cost on all parts, so it helps out my jet ski hobby

I am a full time student at Milwaukie High School of Milwaukie, OR. I also work in a pet shop. Not too many pics of the place or what i do. I basically clean the animals cages and take care of em all like most everyone else. I am mainly a fishroom/reptile guy, but sometimes I have to go and work with the birds or small animals like hamsters and whatnot. Not really as fun as people think working in a pet store is, but hey, its money. I want to soon get out of working there and work at a custom pc build/repair shop that is local around this area. Some of the people on the west side may have heard of a company called PC Club, well they went out of bussiness, and the regional manager of the store closest to me bought out the location and made his own place there. So I wanna try working there soon.

I work for Priority Solutions International (http://www.prioritysolutions.com/index.php), were a pharmaceutical logistics company. As in, we ship drugs. They are mostly sample drugs for birth control, but do ship lots of other stuff. Not a very interesting job, since I work in the warehouse. They just moved me to third shift, in which I start tonight. 11pm-7am... weee.:dead:
BTW, anyone in the pictures on our site don't actually work for us. I've never seen any of these people before.

Done before, but I can't find the thread. I'm a network analyst for an electric utility company. I watch the servers and network circuits that keep the power on for Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. I only wish I could take pictures of my office and data centers to show you guys. It would make you drool.

I breed poodles, die their fur pink, cut it to where they look like a random hedge and sell them. I also breed hedges, cut them into pretty designs, and tie pink ribbons around them to sell them as well.
...just kidding. I'm a student right now. I also create music, draw, paint, etc. Links in muh sig. If my computer wasn't broken I'd have made a few more songs in the past few weeks but oh well, I'm supposed to be getting new RAM in another week or two if that is what the problem is.

Here (https://shop.albertsons.com/eCommerceWeb/LandingPageAction.do?action=zipCheck). I have watched my store get traded to three different companies (Buttrey Food and Drug, Albertsons and now Supervalu) and have seen it get progressively worse with each sale/trade. I expect Walmart to buy us out soon.
I work in the Scan department. This means I make sure all the prices are ringing up right. I also get to work with some very ancient equipment (a few 486 era computers, mostly PIII era for everything else) because it isn't cost effective to upgrade 3000+ stores.

black smoke from a diesel is due to an air to fuel ratio imbalance, either the fuel system is delivering too much fuel into the engine or there is not enough clean air (oxygen )
SXRguyinMA

usually its too much fuel - i.e. programmers, bigger injectors, etc. Banks is the only company I know of that makes big power with no smoke

Hmmm...
I used to work in a laboratory. Then I went on to driving a truck over the road. Now I still work for the same transportation company, I just work in the terminal, instead of driving.
Remember, if you bought it, a truck brought it!

Being a moderator on TBCS is the closest thing to a real job I have right now.
Or one could argue that being a student is my job. I don't get paid for either of them, so pick whichever makes you happiest. =p

I work at a major transportation company as well. We've got over four thousand trucks on the road now, and myself and one other guy handle the breakdowns on the road, thirteen hours a night. We don't have any trucks over three years old, so you'd think they would be reliable. :) Thankfully for me they aren't. The feds pushed the emission standards too quickly in my opinion, and the manufacturers had to cobble together whatever they could to meet the new standards if they wanted to keep selling engines, regardless of reliability. My company also seems to enjoy testing the latest technology on its trucks and trailers, so that's another bit of job security. They will also hire just about anyone and train them, so we get some real rocket scientists out there. That would explain the line under my name above this post. :)
Having done this for too many years, I can tell you in all honesty, there is no such thing as a good-looking truck.

I used to be a Residential Contractor specializing in Custom Home Construction. I inherited the company from my grandfather and kept it going through out my last 2 years of college. Made it another 6 months into the recession and had to close up shop due to no construction work to be found for 60 miles. So I took my savings and sold a piece of heavy equipment and started a photography business. (Got a Bachelors in Business Administration and an associates in fine arts) So I went with what I know besides construction. I have been making it (no where near what I made building homes) and have had to give up a few luxuries ($45K truck, 2 bikes, expensive vacations, etc) but I am not going hungry and still manage to pay all my bills. So I can not complain.
What does the future hold? I don't know. I miss building homes and if the economy ever improves to pre 2007 levels I may go back to building. I love photography but doing it every day takes the fun out of it.

Where was I, oh yea. I sell used books. I work in a warehouse where we process and store used books. This is my company: Solid Rock LLC (http://solid-rock.com/). My boss is a bit paranoid so we are not really supposed to take pictures of anything. Just picture an unmarked warehouse behind a plumbing company, and rows of chrome shelves full of books. We probably have 1 million books in the sellable inventory, not including what has not been processed yet or has been rejected. Bigest benefit of the job is I get free books and have really cool coworkers/bosses.

i was curious what was involved in being an autopsy technician. This is what i found.
"Autopsy technicians are analytical, innovative thinkers with excellent problem solving skills. They have a natural affinity and aptitude for mathematics and science and can often visualize complex processes. They are not be afraid of working with the deceased. Technicians possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have the ability to work well in teams and alone. They also possess the ability to pay close attention to details when conducting research, while working with special dissection instruments."
Hey, do you make $41,038 a year? cause thats what i says here. :)

Actually in this field, titles are thrown around rather casually. It makes it somewhat difficult to tell exactly what one does by their title alone. The description you posted is nothing like what I do. I am also referred to a forensic technician but again, the title means nothing. I am working for the country coroner while I wait for my internship to begin in July. Most of my work is in special projects that he needs done around the morgue. But when I do work as a tech, all I am is a scrub tech for a forensic pathologist. This means I help clean up and perform the tasks involved in autopsies except the actual interpretation and diagnosis, that is handled by the forensic pathologists. I had some pics taken today of me dissecting a heart but the coroner warned me against posting them on the internet. He said it is a very bad idea and could come back to haunt me (evidently photos of people dissecting human tissues tends to vilify the person and he used the word "ghoul" as the impression it leaves with people). The pictures do look pretty gory, lots of blood so I don't think they are appropriate, and we deleted them. I don't make anywhere near 40k at this job. When I'm working with the autopsies, I make about $11 per hour. When I'm doing projects, I seem to be given the chance to name my price, but I try to keep it reasonable. I will not say how much I was paid for the microscope table, but I will say it was very generous.

I've accidentally stumbled upon some very graphic images on the internet of people... not just dissections but a lot of gore and **** like that. *shudder* Thank you for not posting those.
This just now occurred to me but I'm kinda squeamish about the human body being messed up, mainly from violent acts, though. I wonder how well that will go if I do decide to pursue medical illustration as my career.
jdbnsn
04-08-2009, 04:48 AM
Well, the first time you view human remains it ranges from a bit overwhelming to the point of making you physically ill. Everyone is different and you never know until you do it. But it's not as bad as you would think, and you do get used to it rather quickly. Mostly because you are doing so for the sake of medicine. That is to say you are not witnessing the act of violence itself, but you are viewing the remains for the good of others (family, future patients, your own education, etc...)
EDIT: If you are interested in pursing a career in medical illustration you will really want to get an idea of how you can tolerate this early rather than later. My suggestion is call your local coroner's office and talk to their office staff. Ask if you can witness an autopsy and explain why, most coroner's or pathologists are more than happy to teach while they work (they tend to get a bit lonely as their patients don't chatter too much). That way you can have a chance to see one, and if you get sick there is no shame in bailing out. I've seen lots of people do it and it's just not for everyone.

I went to a human body exhibit in New York where the took real bodies and cut them into sections, pulled bones and muscles apart and pretty much disected the entire bodies. they were like freeze dried or frozen some how so they stayed together. It was pretty interesting and amazing. I'm glad I went. I learned alot about the human body.
