Well, AMD has launched its 4890 line, and hurray! I think I will wait 'till the 4890x2 hits the shelves before I touch one of these.

Many will ask what are the physical differences between the 70 and 90, here they are:
So far, what I found out is that the GPU has a de-coupling ring around it's edge. This de-coupling ring adds 3million more transistors making the total transistor count 959 million (up from 956 million). From the video interview the RV790 is a new ASIC. So is it a new chip? Physically, yes it is based on the improvements made but there is no logic design changes.

These new cards are ridiculously powerful... I still have a 3870. In the future I think I'm going to build a rig with an AMD CPU, they seem to know more of what they are doing lately.

I've got a pair of 3870x2's, but I'm saving for a new mobo so I can crossfire them :devious:

Interesting report, thanks and +rep. I've been running a paid of 4670's in Crossfire for a while and loved them, but just yesterday I sold that machine and am currently building one with an HD 4870. We'll see how it does.
In the future I think I'm going to build a rig with an AMD CPU, they seem to know more of what they are doing lately.
Woo hoo!! (I'm always inordinately glad to hear about any dollars being turned away from the Evil Empire. It has something to do with that five-note Pentium sound they shoved down my throat all those years ago, I think I'm still gagging on it...)

A friend of mine has an AMD Tricore along with an HD4870 is his rig right now. I'm tired of Intel and nVidia right now... for some reason they just feel cheap. My main use of a computer in the near future will most likely be music, art, etc. Mostly rendering things, although I will be gaming still.
im just building a rig for my gf´s brother with one of theese in it and a phenom 2:) ill let ya know if its worth the money:D

My boss upgraded from an 8800gtx to 2 - 4850's in crossfire, and he's super disappointed with it. :(
His biggest complaint is the DX10 performance in AoC, but apparently it's a poor implementation. I've convinced him to bench it with 3Dmark Vantage tonight, and see how much this setup will outperform his 8800.

Ok heres my drift with the Intel + Nvidia vs. AMD +ATI, First thing is that I use to be a complete Nvidia lover, didn't get anything from AMD.
Now I find myself in the complete opposite position. All I buy is AMD + ATI now, they provide solutions that beat nvidia + intel in many ways. You can start to see some of my fan videos on my youtube channel, I will be posting more and more eveyr week now.
1. ATI's and AMD's prices are very hard to beat at the moment, and with the world's best engineers its hard to be their quality product too. With a simple $190 chip, AMD as brought more power than Intel's Extreme processor.

Never cared as much for Intel anyway, but I wouldn't say "cheap" exactly. Nvidia, on the other hand... well, even after you filter out Charlie's fanboyism (http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/703/1028703/nvidia-g84-g86-bad) they've had some issues.

$190 CPU + liquid nitrogen + AMD engineers on hand to supervise + etc etc.
Yes it's impressive, but I dont think the price holds ANY weight in that argument.. Show me a side by side comparison of that chip against an Intel cpu with air cooling, or even water cooling.. something *I* could do to my own computer, and then I'll be impressed. :)
I have no preference either way (Intel or AMD).. I've owned both (though honestly, far more Intels) and I've got no complaints against either.

I'm an AMD + nVidia guy. Always have been and looks like I always will be. Never had a problem with either, performance is great. Only problem is that it's getting harder to find AMD + nVidia motherboards.
Running 2 9800GTs and a Phenom II 920 (all stock speeds for now)

I like AMD over Intel alot now, cheap reliable and great performance. With the right cooling you can get the CPU to new heights.
Btw, Does anyone know when AMD is to release their next line (CPU+Chipset+VGA)?
