Some routers have the ability to block specific domains.. might be worth checking on yours. :) I had to do that for a couple of clients.

One of the easiest ways to do it for a local pc is to just go to the host file (c:/windows/system32/drivers/hosts)

You can open the file in notepad just make sure that when you save it .. it does NOT add the .txt extention. The file must be named "hosts".

Go to the bottom of the file and add...

0.0.0.0 www.myspace.com
0.0.0.0 www.facebook.com

That will do it for any browser installed, unless they use a proxy to go around it.

Tools > Internet Options > Content Tab > Enable "Content Advisor" > Approved Sites Tab > Type in Myspace/Facebook under "Allow this website" but instead of clicking always, click never.

If you are dealing with kids, then for further blockage restrictions, make sure you block pages where they can download other browsers, as anyone will be able to download those browsers and then visit the blocked website using that browser. However, if they're on the limited account which can be set under windows profile preferences, they shouldn't be able to download anything. However, in the past I've managed to download certain things like 3rd party web browsers on a limited account, so better take the extra precautions than not if your goal is to foil any attempts made by anyone to access a certain web page.

I was never the type to give up easily, as my father learned when I was younger. If I wanted to visit a naughty site when they weren't home, then by gosh I was going to! lol

Although doing the things I listed above does make it rather difficult, if not impossible these days, so if thats your goal, then those extra precautions are an excellent deterrent. Just thought I'd mention that as you didn't give a reason as to why you were trying to block myspace and facebook. So just in case, there it is. ^_^
