Thanks for your help. I'm relatively new to modding (although I did once ruin a 386 case trying to put a baby AT board in it), and I have an idea I need a little guidance with.
I have an ancient laptop that I love dearly, but like an old dog it's gotten to the point where it doesn't do anything but lay around and smell. It's a 233Mhz K6 that really should be retired to eBay, except I love the feel of the keyboard and the petite size.
I would love to tear the guts out and replace them with a mini-ITX-based system, but as I have read, there might be some problems.
1. The screen would have to be replaced from scratch. Is that correct? I read the article explaining the near-impossibility of wiring a laptop LCD to a standard motherboard.
2. If it needs replaced, is an LCD kit of a similar size a possible solution? I have seen some around the 'Net that have similar dimensions and power systems, which suggests it could be mounted in the original case and connected.
3. Is there a solution to the keyboard issue? As it is, the keyboard runs direct into the motherboard via ribbon cable. Are there converters or adapters for this? Or is that the deal breaker?
4. I'm willing to live without the touchpad, although I'd like to keep it in a working state. Any suggestions on that?
5. What other problems might I run into?
Thanks in advance for your help.
