They're a pain in the ass to run though, and i'd highly recommend it being a members only chatroom... especially with the amount of traffic which comes through here and doesnt post.

One word: moderation. Who's going to sit on a chat room 24/7 and make sure it stays clean and on topic?

If you want a chat room, there are tons of ways of setting up an IRC channel, and you could just go set one up and provide a link from a thread here.

Official chat rooms are a lot harder, logistically.
