View Full Version : Epson Getting Sued?

At work we are having an Epson ink drought. We have about a dozen empty spots for Epson ink with no refills in the near future. I've been telling customers to go to Walmart, Best Buy or Sam's, but everyone is telling me they are out of Epson ink too. My boss heard that Epson is supposedly getting sued by someone and froze ink production, but I have searched and haven't found any news stories to confirm this.

The big problem is that about a year ago Epson sued all 3rd party companies that sold their ink and won, so you cannot buy generic Epson ink. I'm curious if they are going under in this economy and anyone who owns an Epson printer will be screwed when the ink disappears.

I haven't heard anything on it, serves Epson right though, first for cutting out 3rd party ink suppliers, and also for their stupid design where the inkjets are separate from the ink cartridge. You save only a little on each cartridge, and get boned when the inkjets fail on you (I've never owned an Epson printer, but have far too many relatives and friends that have and just about all had experienced this). I've also seen Epson printers just drip ink from the inkjets while sitting idle (sub $100 HPs do this too, my old V40 does not have this problem, however), not only does it make a mess, but it wastes ink.
