Ay-seuss

That's how I've always heard it, even from our sales rep, so I'm inclined to believe him. :D

I always liked pronouncing it like the first "ace us", even if I do now know that it's really pronounced the other way >_>. It took a long time before I had to hear anyone actually say it in person. I still like the way I enjoy saying it.

I went into a local computer shop looking for an old mobo and the guy said "yea I have one but its a A S U S and going to be pricey" I walked out when this guy whos is an "official" Asus dealer can not even pronounce their name right.

I say: Aye-Sus but that could be because I am a southern hick. :P

I say "Eh-soos" (IPA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPA_chart_for_English_dialects): 'eɪ̯sʊus). Accent, as you see, on the first syllable.

When talking fast it can end up as "Eh-suhs" ('eɪ̯səs), mind.

Ok, so I learned two things: the proper pronunciation of ASUS and the fact that their EeePC isn't pronounced "Triple E PC".

oh damn lol I didn't even notice that. Triple E PC... Hmm... yea, I like that quite a bit better actually. Sounds so much better than just E PC.

I still think I could of thought of a better name than either of those though. lol

Omicronian Eight Thousand AND ONE

I'd definitely buy that.

I call it "Eeepc." As in "eep," then a hard C. I do this to be a jackass. (I knew it was pronounced Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, though - as high-pitched as possible.

An EEE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_equine_encephalitis_virus) PC would concern me.

Also: So it's "a Seuss". Okay.

A-Sues sounds stupid as hell.

I pronounce it A-zeus. I say "e" PC, and this reminds me of a thread on another forums... how do you pronounce "Solder"? I say soder.

Also, I didn't know the Eee was voice activated....

I say "saw-dur".

Here's another one. How do you guys pronounce Sauna? Being part Finnish, I always get on people's cases when I hear them pronounce it. :p

(The sauna originated in Finland, fyi. So it only makes sense to pronounce it like they do. Which is Sow-nuh. Sow as in ouch but without the ch sound at the end. Nuh as in NUH UH! lol)

FuzzyPlushroom

It's saw-dur, all right, at least in North America. As in "'Ey man, you wanna plug in dat sawdurn arn faw me?"

(I don't say "faw"; that's more a Boston thing. But I manage to get two syllables in. "Fo-uh.")

Around here I hear "saw-nuh" a lot. It's like "llama" with an N, sorta. Or "sonnet" with an A instead of an "et". We might be slightly closer to the correct pronunciation because of all the Finns around here, or maybe not, because they've been breeding amongst themselves for the last hundred years and everyone's everyone else's cousin.

Oh - I got another. Leadtek is "Lead" like the element, right? Not "Lead" as in "lead the way"? Maybe I'm givin' 'em a bad rap and not realizing it.

i would think they want lead as in "lead the way" so they can lead the way to better products?! lol

Personally I have always said Ay-sus,
Yeah, but how do you say 'Ay' It could be the letter 'A' or 'eye'

I say A(rhymes with lay, pay, day)-sus. Ah-soos is just lame, even if that's how the guy in the ad says it.
Sounds like he sneezed.

Can we pronounce linux now? I say lye-nux. Not linnux or leenux.

This reminds me of a few southern words I'd like to share.

1. sensuous - usage: Sensuous up, why dont you get me a beer?

2. witchadidja - usage: You didnt bring yer truck witchadidja?

3. jeet - usage: Jeet? Nah, I'm waitin' fer supper.
