Hi
What ram do I need for a Dell small form pc ? Is it just normal ram or is it any different than full size pc's ? Its a dell GX270 this is the spec

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx270/en/ug/specs.htm

But it does not say how many pin ? or what standard it is ? Is something like this suitable

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Samsung-DDR-400MHz-1GB-PC-3200-184Pin-RAM_W0QQitemZ290313725098QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Com puting_ComputerComponents_MemoryRAM_JN?hash=item29 0313725098&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A15%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

I believe its pc3200 ?

download and run Belarc Advisor (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html), it'll tell you EVERYTHING about your system, including memory

according to the specs on their site, that memory will work, it says the SFF PC will take up to 2GB of DDR 333 or DDR 400. the ebay link you posted is for 1GB of DDR 400

hi thanks, I am using the pc as a wall mounted jukebox, using ultimate jukebox as the software and playing audio tracks and video tracks and also for basic web browsing, Do I need more ram? I have 512mb at moment and was going to upgrade to 1gb will it make any difference on what im using the pc for ? many thanks

it may. I'm running 4GB in my rig, and it does audio/video flawlessly, but it also depends on your processor, etc.

The amount of RAM needed depends on the OS. 512 megs is plenty for that on Win2000, probably fine for XP... if you want to run Vista for some reason, stick at least another 512 in there.
