I just moved to Vegas and I'm looking for a cheap way to get around, but I don't want to throw my money away either. I've been looking for a Honda scooter on craigslist. My wife and I do a monthly budget and we decided that the most I can spend on a scooter would be $775. It is a little on the low end, but not a price I've never seen before. I emailed the lady. This is our interchange for this scooter: http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/mcy/1116920156.html
ME: I know that this is a low offer, but it's the best I can do. I am willing to pay $775 for the scooter. I can't do any better than that. Let me know if you don't sell it for more and you are willing to take $775 cash. Thanks.
HER: Im sorry but that offer is insulting considering the quality of the scooter. Perhaps you may want to look into a simpler model rather than a Honda.
The offer is more than a $1000 less than what I am asking and to be honest I am NOT desperate. If I paid over $1700 for the scooter - please be aware that considering the caliber of people I have encountered in this city LOW BALLING is expected but give me a break...
DO NOT BOTHER RESPONDING
ME: Well, I'm sorry to insult you with that low offer. The truth is that I can't afford it for more than that. Is it insulting that I live within my means? My parents bought two Honda Metros from the dealer at $1400 a piece. I've seen several Honda scooters back home in the $700-$900 range, including a 2005 ruckus just last month with 1200 miles for $800. I would have gotten it then, but shipping one here costs about $550. You should try not to be insulted so easily. $775 isn't an insult, and I am confident you will find someone willing to pay $1000. I wish you luck and a little more patience with those who make offers in the future.
HER: Well then maybe you should go back home. And besides that a brand new crappy scooter goes for what you can afford. Obviously you are not a local and dont know that the things you buy here in Vegas are much more expensive.
Patience? You have nerve - do not contact me again.
ME: Well, there is no harm in asking . . . except your pride. Hondas are nicer than the the crappy ones, that is probably why you bought a honda and it is why I am looking for one. For the most part things are about the same price as back home. I will find a honda scooter for $775, because I am patient. Have a nice day.
