Now featuring a 9.7-inch screen, compared to the Kindle 2's 6-inch screen. Any price guesses?

I'm guessing twenty thousand dollars. Because thats what it might as well be at the current price. No, seriously though, I'm putting my money on it staying at $359.99 with the remaining Kindle 2's at $309.99 and the Kindle at $279.99.

Note to Microsoft or Apple: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, GIVE AMAZON SOME COMPETITION! Forget all that fancy shmancy cellular and e-ink technology, just give me a basic reader. Basically, give me the Kindle without all the useless, over-rated, expensive BS. I don't care that back lighting hurts my eyes, I can turn the brightness down like I do with my iPod Touch. Give me the option for a black background with white text and we are in definite business. Hell, it doesn't even need WiFi, I'd be more than happy to connect via USB if it would knock all that much more off of the base price. Anyways... /rant from a poor person.

HAHAHAHAHA

Can you seriously do anything other than laugh at that?? What a ****ing joke. The sad thing is, I know people are going to buy it left and right. Dammit I wish I had that kind of money to throw around. lol

Hey, check this out...

Other than design, its basically identical, if not possibly better? I've been begging for competition and its been here right under my nose this entire time! It is kind of ugly though.

I saw the Sony reader at BJ's with the fiance and she wanted it so bad. She reads like a maniac and we are running out of space for books here at the apartment lol. It was like $250 at BJ's.

I was told to look into the Ebookwise 1150. Takes smartmedia, so expensive for just 128mb max storage, but uses a backlight and is a basic reader you can get pretty cheap compared to these new ones.

I was gunna guess $450 haha.

Damn... my girlfriend also reads a ton. She could really get a lifetime of use of one of these things but 500 bucks?! Like you said... FFS, the device is supposed to be a BOOK with an infinite amount of books inside it... is that not magical enough? That's all we want and that's all there should be. We have computers, handhelds and cellphones to have all the goodies... we don't need the same ol' **** in a book. Ok, maybe it would be cool if it could play movies. :o)

Focus on ergonomics and the visual design and leave it's function plain and simple.

I'd like to know the last time a book (or even 50 books) cost about $500 and had WiFi, lol.
