This recession is really the sh*ts isnt it? Things are tough for everyone, I know, so I dont like to whine about my situation, but I'm just feeling pretty crap right now, so I have to vent a little bit.

Feel free to skip the rest of the message if you dont want to hear me whine.

Ok, so I applied for this new job, working for the county. I would be basically back doing what I was doing at my old job, just on a slightly bigger scale. On the plus side, I would NOT be responsible for the phone system, that is a completely separate beast.

I had my interview on Monday, and i really dont feel like it went as well as it could have. TBH, I was pretty nervous in there.. sitting across the table from a few interviewers is nothing new, but this was just.. different somehow.

I dont think that I put on my best, and today I got the "thanks, but no thanks" call. I sort of had the feeling all week that I wasnt going to get the job, so I wasnt too suprised.

The thing is that it's TRIPLE the money I'm making now (which isnt enough.. we are falling behind every week right now), and the benefits are incredible. (I have no benefits right now..)

So yeah, I'm just feeling really crap right now, because this was a shot at turning things around, and it fizzled out. I think I'll go home and have a beer.

I feel your pain job wise except I have the benefit of living at home with mom and not paying rent/mortgage.

I've read government jobs are on the rise and hiring like wildfire.

Good luck man.

I feel your pain, my fiancee is looking for work at the moment, days gone by you used tgo be able to step out from Uni into a full time job but not today.

Makes me really appreciate having a job, no matter how crap the day is.

I would suggest keeping fit and healthy while you're down, no matter how bad a day it is those endorphines released after a run/set will help.

Good luck Luke!

I will tip a pint for you tonight as well.

Here's a hint for those looking for work;

Look in the medical sector. They are still doing fairly well and a lot of my customers are medical device manufacturers. They have kept us really busy the last year and a half.

Hehe some would say... I feel half dead though. Not enough time in the day for work, home, wife and sleep.

I'll second that. Medical and IT, that's a double whammy. I actually turned down a job earlier this year with a hospital due to location--I've spent enough time living in the eastern half of Montana.

I couldn't agree more. It's also agree the economy sux. I was laid off for 4 months, the day after I got my call back letter my wife lost her job of 3 years.

Problem is: there are so many looking for jobs too, so when you apply you have to compete against hundreds of others

For some reason a huge part of me wants to think that the economy has to do with how the whole world sees it... if someone doesn't want a certain product, said companies lose profit, etc. It's like... even though they're small, every decision by each consumer, manager, CEO, whoever makes a difference.

Maybe if we all don't want Apple bad enough, they'll go under

I should add that the job I applied for had 112 applicants!

They granted 4 interviews, and I got one. So I guess I should feel good about that.. too bad I didnt get it, then I would feel BETTER.
