Well since my bogged down Dell M1330, is even more bogged down I decided to look for a damn good "Gaming" Laptop. Look at this that I just found. (http://www.factorgaming.com/Gaming_Laptop_NP5796.php)

For a simple $1600 I can get:

-Intel Core 2 Duo P8600

-2,048MB DDR3 1066MHz Dual Channel Memory

-1,024MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce GTX 280M DDR3 (USER UPGRADABLE!!)

-Combo 8x8x6x4x Dual Layer DVD +/-R/RW 5x DVD-RAM 24x CD-R/RW Drive w/Software

-Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audio - Included

Holy crap...That is one damn good laptop for one damn good price. For about $500 more you can get a full HD, Quad Core, blu-ray drive Rippin' laptop!

I've spammed my laptop a few times but it's only because I love it.

Gateway P-7805u FX.

-2.26GHz
-4GBs DDR3 1066 RAM
-9800GTS 1GB dedicated
-320GB 7200RPM HDD w/extra slot
-17" @ 1920x1200
-I dunno the specs of the cd/dvd but it burns both quickly. (label flash not lightscribe though which is a bummer)

With the money saved you could throw in a sweet CPU and another 320gig for raid0. Most gaming laptops have MXM GPUs or w/e form factor that is that allows the user to upgrade. Problem is you can't get ahold of them new and they're $$$$$ on eBay used, even for the 8400 and 8600's.

NOTE: I paid 1000 dollars for it from BestBuy a few days before it was supposed to come out. The price has jumped up to ~1250 and they downgraded to a 1440x#### screen but you can find the true 7805's on eBay still for a decent price. Bestbuy also has them on sale from time to time.

Looks pretty good, though I would definitely take the WUXGA and 4GB RAM upgrades, considering what you'll be doing with it (based on your previous thread). You also might want to check out some of Sager's offerings, such as this: http://www.sagernotebook.com/product_customed.php?pid=129131&action=customize
Same specs, about the same price, but from a better known company with a solid reputation (though you can't get it without an OS).
