I never knew that it was actually visible from earth. I've seen tons of pictures of the center of the milkyway or w/e you wanna call it but I thought they were from NASA or something.

To the naked eye it probably isn't, but through a 15mm f2.8 lens with a 20 second exposure, you'll pick up much more.
