I think I'm around fifty (40-45 during typing class a couple years ago, plenty of practice since), but any test that doesn't allow me to correct my mistakes (which I do automatically) will really screw me up. So I haven't voted.

I am much faster typing without having to read as I do so. I never did good on typing test in school because of that. My brain is not wired right to read and type at the same time. I estimate I am in the 100wpm range just typing like this without having to read something.

When I was taking a typing class back in high school, I reached 160wpm. I was pretty stoked since I was WASTING everyone else in the class. But then I realized that I was the only one who thought I was the **** and that it is, in fact, not that cool to be able to type really really fast. lol

I'm only getting like 40-70wpm these days and with lots of errors. But hitting the backspace is like hitting the space bar to me, so I really wouldn't count those as errors since they're only errors for a second or two. :shrugs:

I have a habit of hitting double spaces between sentences (the way I was taught) so it counted those as mistakes too.

My mom had a typing speed somewhere over 150 and the SO is way faster than that. In fact she hates the wireless keyboards because even the tiniest bit of lag throws her off (and even the best wireless keyboard has lag when she types). I have witnessed her tossing a wireless keyboard across the room. Whats even better is that I have seen her talk on the phone, talk to me AND type over 150wpm without any mistakes. I call her "Fingers of Fury!"

+1. I can type way more accurately and quickly when I'm not having to read and subsequently type something out. But then again, I've gotten pretty good at transcribing because occasionally I'll have the five-paragraph-essay on a piece of paper that I'll need in digital form and I don't have a scanner, so it's off to the keyboard for me.

+1. When I mess up (which is a pretty rare "when", because usually I type slowly and deliberately), I'm hitting the backspace key pretty quickly afterwords and fixing it.
