View Full Version : Flame on!
Well, here's my first real attempt at realistic fire. What did I use? A microsoft mouse, Auto Air paints, rattle can clear. This will probably get sanded down and redone. There are parts of the mouse I'm not happy with, starting with the black base. If it turns out nice when I redo it, I'm going to talk to a buddy of mine who has a body shop, and see if he'll put some real clear on it for me.
I have to thank Rick Primeau of Primo Customs (http://www.primocustoms.com) for being an awesome teacher. Though I haven't been able to paint along during his classes, watching his technique really taught me a lot.

Looks pretty good. Not sure if you've ever heard of an artist by the name of Mike Lavallee. He airbrushes "True Fire". here is a link to a video he made that you can buy. Just to a google on his name and True fire to see some examples of his work. -He's been on discovery HD theater too.

Yep. Lavalee is the man. He pretty much started the true fire technique. I would love to take one of his classes. I'm learning from this guy (http://www.primocustoms.com). He's been on Rides, Overhaulin, and Titus. I watched him paint the death dealer bike (http://theairbrushforum.com/completed-projects/4563-death-dealer-finished.html), and the technique just came to me on how I could try and replicate it. I think after I sand it down and repaint, I might try and sell it on ebay. I'll have to do some searching on how much it might go for first.

Looks great, I use a razer lachesis and it has an ultra thin rubber coat on it and I have heaps to get to grips with for painting so no paint job for my mouse for a while yet. +rep even thou you might be god lol.
Thanks tomcatt and Waynio. I wanted to have this thing sanded down and based already, I just haven't had time to airbrush. I'm thinking of doing a sort of time lapse video when I redo it.. or at least record it and then speed it up with some music playing over the sequence. I'll have to sharpen my windows movie maker skills. :devcool:
