every time i try to get it in to hibernation it says insufficient memory to complete api

do you have enough free space on your hdd? lol
otherwise here is a link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907477) to microsoft's troubleshooting hibernation page. try that stuff.

I have sufficient space as well and it keeps pulling that crap. Explorer also randomly crashes (not the window, but all the windows, lol).

I have sort of the same problem, my rig will go into a sort of hibernation...if you mean turning completely off..everything shuts off, i push the power button and everything returns to where i had it...is it a big deal? could it damage my system?

My HDD stopped working one time, until I plugged it into another SATA port.

Sounds like a bad hardware controller, although it might be your BIOS. try clearing the CMOS with that little pin.

it can't be my bios or my motherboard cause my sata dvd player still works on the same sata the harddrive was on

Resetting the bios won't hurt anything, so it might be worth a shot..
