I've personally had excellent luck with the spray frosting from Plastikote, but it depends on what exactly you're looking to do. When I used it I had a large area to cover and I wanted it as uniform as possible, and I was very pleased with the results.

If there is any interest. I got the tools to make a guide showing pretty much all the ways to frost/etch plexi (Even a blasting cabinet) . Just need to go to the store for some plexi.
