I've got an iphone, but the battery is junk and the screen is broken. it still rings, but I cant answer it lol. I'm savin up for the 3G iphone now. at least I can still plug this into my truck and listen to the 900+ songs that are on it

I used to be the same way. There are so many things I dislike about Apple that I really don't want to get started. But I do have an IPod Touch. The interface is very fluid and easy to navigate around. that doesn't mean I love it though.

Personally, I couldn't care less about the whole debate. Its pretty stupid. Apple is pretty pricey sure, but so is Samsung. I don't really get the whole hate on Apple. I don't like them more than any other brand, but I don't dislike them either. ...except when they have something that I really like but I can't afford. lol ...maybe thats where the hate comes from? Hmm.

I'm not a fanboy of anything, I just buy what I think is the best product out there. For me, it was the Touch. I needed a new MP3 player and I wanted a portable computer. The Touch does both those things and tons more, and it was much more affordable than a laptop lol. I didn't buy it to be cool or anything, I just bought it because it suited my needs better than any other product out there that I knew of.

So why are you so against Apple anyways, DT?

I was actually thinking abuot this today.. I carry my phone, my ipod, and a digital camera with me pretty much everywhere.

Why? Phone can play music (has a decent interface, and uses a standard usb cable to connect to pc/charge, unlike the ipod), and has a 3.2mp camera (which in reality is only good in sunlight.. no flash).

I should just load my phone with tunes, and carry my headset and keep cables/chargers in the truck. Done and done. :D

It's not so much Apple as it is the fanboys and the 'holier than thou' attitude that they have. I see so much of that **** at work, especially the little rich kids that get everything handed to them on a silver platter.

One other thing that really pisses me off in regards to Apple is their EULA. If I pay for software, hardware, media, whatever, I'm going to use it any way I see fit, even if that means that I'm going to take said media out to the shooting range and use it as a clay pigeon. Corporate America can be quite dumb and blind at times--both IBM and Intel went through this same exact thing in the early 1980s and 1990s respectively.

Apple needs to get their collective heads out of their collective asses and figure out if they are a software company or a hardware company, plain and simple. Until they figure that out, I am one less customer that will buy their products.

And for the record, if I am a fanboy of anything, it is the Opensource movement. I am a very firm believer that Opensource will be the wave of the future.

It seems like all the Gadget blogs have gone nuts with the Pre articles. Unfortunately the phone is not mine, just got to play with it for a bit. The company I work for does Tier 1 and Tier 2 tech support for Sprint. They sent us a couple a week or so ago, in order to get the Techs up to speed before the launch.
The keyboard was a bit cumbersome for me at first. I am used to an 6700 keyboard, so with the Pre's keyboard being so much smaller, it took me a bit to get used to it. It seemed pretty speedy, and the touch screen worked well (multitouch). I did like the browser, TBCS looks great on it. I only got about 20 minutes with it, but it worked as advertised.
