Went to a car show this morning stopped by 2 yard sales on the way. I scored a brand new mighty light with right angle adapter for $1, 2 50' rolls of 18ga wire @ $.25 each a Mac tools compression tester for $1, set of roller blade wheels with berrings for $1.25, a full bag of fine steel wool for $.25 and a drum sanding drill attachment with 4 sanding drums for $.50.

Then off to the car show. Walked around for a few min and handed out about 30 business cards with 10% off a photo shoot on them. Then left because most of the cars were ricers who just went too far. (didn't know park bench wings were still cool). Right across the street was a harbor freight. So being the penny pincher I am I stopped. They had a parking lot sale going on with about 8 tables set up with deep discounts on stuff.

I wound up getting:

2 hobby clamp kits @ $.45 each
1 4" magnetic parts tray $1.25
1 13pc hole saw kit $3.00
1 Cen-Tech 6" digital caliper $12.55
1 magnetic torpedo level with automatic angle finder $ 1.00
1 1/2" counter sink $.75
1 3pc counter sink set $3.00
1 12pc needle file set $1.50
1 7pc drill stop kit $1.50
1 100pc razor blade pack $3.00
1 machinest pocket rule $.75
1 utility knife $.25
1 14 pc black and decker drill bit + 17pc screw driver bit set $3.00
1 opened pack discount 6pc tweezer set missing 1 pair of tweezers $.25
1 opened pack discount 3pc step drill missing middle bit $2.00
1 bottle 3 in 1 oil $1.50

Here is a few pics.

yea most of it came from harborfreight tools which was having a big sale in their parking lot. The digital calipers were originally $34 marked down to 12. Most of the stuff was 30-60% off.

Those calipers are rubbish, I've used the same kind before.

I try to avoid all things harbor freight, but then again, I'm not a basement hobbyist, for four years (though not any longer), I was a precision machinist, so I had to have precise analog gear.

still though, good score on everything else

Yea. I don't need the .0000001mm or .000000000001" accuracy of the high dollar models. I buy stuff like this at harbor freight because I will use it every now and then and not on a daily basis. All of my mechanic type tools are a mixture of Craftsman, Matco and Snap-on. I have 2 large bench boxes and a tall 3 box roll cab full of those. Most of my power tools are Dewalt, Makitia, Milwaukee, or Craftsman. I buy quality where its needed and go cheap on the stuff I will rarely use.

I want a mill and lathe but if I ever buy one it will not be a Bridgeport because I can get a grizzly or harborfreight for much less. Its just something I would play around with, not make space shuttle parts with.

Its just like my camera gear. Most people buy a cheap point and shoot. Some buy DSLR and the low end lenses, but because I make my living from that gear I buy nothing but the highest quality gear.

Nice score.

I stay away from places like Harbor because cheap tools don't last long in my hands. My boss bought us all a set of tools from harbor back in December. 80% of mine are now broken and 50% of my co-workers tool sets are either now broken or were not usable when they were bought. For example; that set of side cutters that came in my set; the spring stopped working the first time I used them and now they are not even able to cut a tie wrap. The pair I have at home are almost 25 years old, bought from Kline and they still work fine.
