As soon as my gamecube pc is complete I will start on this.
This is a good picture to start off with
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm81/895232/DSCF2933.jpg
since then I have put it back together and am in the process of desinging it.
it will be watercooled using a xspc single bay res/pump, dangerden 775 cpu block, a single 120mm radiator, and two passive Cape CORA heat exchangers.
I will be using 3mm red plexi for pci card covers and as a bottom to the case.
Any and all ideas comments and critcism is welcome.

I cast my vote for the clear tubing with the black fluid, that sounds interesting.

Guess I should do a small update, now that I have a poll. the color scheme is red and black so I am just wondering what you guys think would go well. Anyways since the initial picture I have cleaned the case up nicely, mocked up the psu and bought it a new 500Gb hdd. sure I would love to post some pics but I sorta need a camera.

Depends on whats red and whats black. I can't say what would be better without knowing that much first.

I'm a sucker for white tubing and clear fluid illuminated by LEDs but the clear tubing with black fluid sounds like a good idea.

985323

Yea im planning on using the white tubing with a small piece of clear at the top connecting the two passive rads, that way i can make sure all the air is out when i fill the loop.

Yesterday I went out and bought a mobo, it's not the dfi like I wanted but it should fit the bill, it's a Asus P5Q3 Deluxe. So the computer itself is put together and the tubing route is done I just need to either do cable managment or make a hdd cover to hide all the cables because they are all balled up in the hdd cage. Also still plan makeing a red plexi pci card cover and black plexi drive covers.

Also it would seem that my meddling around in the psu has ruined it, so it looks like I need a new one

I'm just curious... What did the Cape Cora rads cost you and where did you get them? I did a google search and found some for $20, but everywhere else is around $40 - $80...

Will

Remy
10-22-2009, 04:04 PM
If your planning on making the rest of your case glossy, then yes a gloss white; otherwise flat. I say white because of the tubing, and I remembered seeing a case fan with white fins.

985323
10-22-2009, 04:45 PM
yea, it would go great with the tubing

got the paint today, musta looked odd at home depot as I stood there for like five minutes with two cans of spray paint one in each hand, it took that long to make up my mind between white and blood red then I realized if I didnt like the color I could always repaint it the other one.

And I chose!

White!

Just as a reminder this case has 5ft of red el wire and might get some red cold cathlodes. also red plexi card cover and black plexi wire cover and drive bay.
In other news it turns out that the psu was not the problem as it was the mobo that is dead so need a new one of those...*sigh*

like the build bro, BUT... the way you put thoose rads they do more harm than good.

not to be a dick, but you should return them, and get some proper rads instead. they only work if they are placed vertical, since they are build so that the they would heat air up, that would go up in the fins, and draggin cold air in from the bottom.

+they are made of aluminium and will eventually f#ck up the loop since you got a copper block.

my advise would be to place a 120.3 in the top. i love the look of the radiators like that, but they dont give much performance in vertical position, and will give like nothing, the way you put them there.

really hope your going to take them off, since its gonna bite you in the ass in the end:/

Thanks for pointing this out p0Pe, it was something I had heard about before just forgotten about, if I am to replace the two passive rads I will replace all the rads with a 3x120mm rad. i just dont have the money atm, and am also having trouble with the mobo.

If you're considering disbanding these radiators:

I'd be willing to purchase them from you. This way you'll get some money towards the purchase of a 3x120 radiator and I could use these on my mod.
Send me a PM if you'd like to get rid of these.

Sooo...guess i should put a small update. So I did sell the two passive rads to Remy and will replace them with either a single 360 or use a 240 and the 120 off the back, I am getting the plexi this week and a new mobo hopefully this Friday and just replaced my sound card in my main rig today so that will be going in this build.

Yes, I realize this basically makes it a new project, however the reason im getting a new case is that the front door is broken of its hinges (dont ask) and the cm scout is a very nice lan case that fit the build better.

Will

The boy 4rm oz
12-02-2009, 12:02 PM
You may have to mount the 240mm rad up top, unless you sacrifice the HDD bays and some of the optical bays and mount it up front.

Remy
12-02-2009, 04:38 PM
I'd say mount it vertically, at the front-bottom of the case on the outside (inlet & outlet at the bottom). This would leave 10 inches or so at the top of the case for your optical drives. If you wanted to get real fancy, you could build a cover for the radiator too. Which 240 rad did you decide on?

985323
12-03-2009, 05:03 AM
small update, i have been able to fit the 120mm rad in the hdd cage, so the hdd is now up above the front switches, pics tomorrow as i need to make a new top piece for the psu shell, as the old one didn't work well with the mobo. Side note im typing this on it right now, as i installed windows 7 ultimate on it.
