What I read said that the upcoming bankruptcy will not affect day to day operations.

It could be a ploy to get a quick rush of income but I remember talks of them going out of business for years now.

I'm curious how they even got into debt in the first place?

Oversaturated market. Debt from investments made to compete with other parks and buyouts of other parks. My wife and I could get two tickets for $75. That's not a lot of money compared to Disneyland's price. Nonetheless, we went to Disneyland. I like it more.

If we can, though, we are planning to do a weekend trip to ride X2 at magic mountain in California. I love that ride. I waited for over 4hrs to ride on if after it first opened. Totally worth it. It's the best roller coaster I have ever been on . . . ever. So smooth. A total rush.
