View Full Version : How do you mount multiple monitors bigger than 20in

I have a 22 in monitor and want to upgrade to a 3 monitor setup.

I do alot of video editing now and I really need more space for Adobe Premier Pro.

All of the multiple monitor setup mounts I see are only able to accept monitors up to 20in. I want to get 2 more 22in monitors.

Does anyone know of a professional looking mounting system to accomplish this?

I guess I can sit them on the desktop but I'd rather them inline on a mount.

Thanks.

I am in the same boat. I have looked at several "multiple monitor" mounts and most do not support wide screen monitors. I am now looking to cannibalize other mounts and build my own to mount on the wall. I have a company sending me some info on their multi monitor mounts and I will share when it comes in.

Here is one:

And another;

Ooh, thats pretty nice. A bit pricey, but the design looks simple enough that you could probably build one yourself.

Exactly what I was thinking. I have a couple of bad flat panels that I am going to remove the mounts from and have a friend do some welding for me.

Well, depending on how you want those three monitors arranged, this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824994004) might work:
http://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/ProductImageCompressAll200/24-994-004-09.jpg

I was able to find dual-monitor mounts that support up to 24" panels, but wouldn't be ideal if you have three panels.

Personally, I'm a big advocate of building your own *looks around* actually, I'd say that's probably pretty common here :D Once I get a nicer (read: bigger) desk, I'm gonna be building my own too, though I'll be using wood, mainly just because that's what I have the tools for and experience with. Wood's also a bit more forgiving than metal...and cheaper...

This is a modding forum after all, get some aluminum or steel and build your own!

Thanks for the help.

Those mounts do look cool.

I'd love to get into fabrication but after some research it just looks super expensive.

Most of the do it yourself welding kits look like they are strictly for steel.

Another question for the super modders:

Is there a low cost way to weld aluminum? Or all the low cost kits strictly for steel.

I know there are a ton of different welding types also. So this question may be a little vague.

Thanks for all the help.

Define low cost.

Quad mount dual 24" widescreens on the bottom, 20" on the top. I could squeeze another couple inches between the screens. If the LCD has a thin enough bezel, I think I could fit dual 26" screens.

Got this one off ebay. The triple stands suck, the center LCD is stationary and the arms are only about 4" longer, so anything more than 17" LCDs is pretty much impossible.

Is there a low cost way to weld aluminum?

Check into Durafix rods. All you need is a good propane torch. My Dad got some of these a while back and they work surprisingly well.

I wonder if you could use some of these on some sort of plate to minimize the engineering portion.

Wall mount them?

Wall mount them?

Build the mount for the three monitors then mount the mount on a wall. Keeps a stand off your desk and gives me more desk space. It was just an idea.

Do a search for Quad LCD, there are a few different sellers and a few slightly better prices.

 Holy hand grenades Batman! Those are CHEAP! How's the build quality on yours?

EDIT: Also, I notice most of these (at least all I've checked so far) are only rated to 22" panels. Was yours advertised at supporting 24" (ie, am I missing the bigger ones)?

They're very sturdy, as long as you install it properly and snug up the clamp every so often. The mounting pole is the weak spot since it clamps onto the edge of the desk. If you have a weak desktop, the weight of 4 LCDs could be an issue. CRACK! SMASH! CRAP!! Or if you have a light or top heavy desk. Stick 4 LCDs on and things start to get wobbly. I actually had a UPS in the bottom shelf of my previous desk to keep things more stable. The new monster is a lot more stable, but I still don't like the clamp.

It was not advertised as supporting 24" screens, but I had the dual LCD version at the same time. I had bought that one a few years back, ran a 17" and a 20" widescreen, then dual 20" widescreens, then a 24" and a 20", then dual 24". Because the quad is pretty much the same mount, but with two crossbars and a longer pole, I had a pretty good chance of it working.

Now, while I can fit dual 24" and dual 20", I'm not sure if the pole is long enough to fit four 24" screens or if any 24" screens will fit. My Soyos are just about 23" wide and a bit over 16" tall with the VESA holes centered in width but about 1" off center in height.

My 24" screens are also at about the weight limit. The swivel and the horizontal joints work fine, but I have to keep the tilt joint on the back of the screen as tight as possible or they want to lean forwards.

Mmm, nice. I think I might be getting one of those then.
